VANITY - What should the 2002 Contract With America Look Like?
JetTester

There have been a lot of thread discussions about what the Pubs should do first. If there was a way to put together a Freeper version of the "Contract With America 2002" as we see it, what would your planks be? Maybe we can compile the list and forward it to one of our CongressCritters as our input to the debate?

I'll start with this: "Fix our schools or get out of the business."

TOPICS: Government; Politics/Elections; Your Opinion/Questions
KEYWORDS: contract; government; list; promises
Please add your thoughts.

Forget about the "Contract with America" name. Maybe they should pick something different.

#1 Purge the voter roles and verify all current voters.
#2 Consolidate all government agencies and have them share data bases so they can keep up better with bad guys and create better security.
#3 Get rid of the death tax (fat chance).
#4 Allow no false ads in political races.
#5 Work on SS again.
#6 Lawyer / Tort reform.
#7 Reduce unneeded government employees by not hiring after some retire for a while.

I second ovrtaxt - abolish the IRS and make history. Mt. Rushmore statute-class changes; world-wide fame that will endure thousands of years. The time to do this is now.

Abolish the National Endowment for the Arts.

Defund public television.

Defund the Legal Services Corp.

Abolish the Dept. of Education.

Force the INS to do its duty: round up and DEPORT all illegal aliens.

Stop issuing visas to citizens of terrorist nations.

Revoke the visas of terrorist-nation nationals.

Repeal the 14th Amendment.

Repeal the 17th Amendment.

Pass an amendment clarifying citizenship: if one or both parent(s) is/are [a] citizen, so is the child; if neither parent is a citizen, the child is not.

Remove the first clause of the Second Amendment, so that it reads simply: "The right of the people to keep and bear arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED."

Change the word "person" to "citizen" everywhere it appears in the Constitution.

That would be an excellent start.
