Should the Democrats have listened to Ann Coulter?

After listening to the sobbing Democrats over the last few days, I wonder if their debacle could have been averted if they had listened to Ann Coulter. Didn't she tell them in her latest book, Slander, that the left and democrats lacked a message and tended to rely on name-calling, false moral superiority, and resentment?

I am going to have to commend you on yor topic. I am now reading Slander and was thinking the exact same thing over the last two days. I am a political junkie but her book has really shed some light on a few things. I just got done listening to Paul Begayla and he is now doing the name calling thing in his own party. I guess you can say that the saying "You can read them like a book" is true when it come to the Democrapheads. Great Post

Thanks. Thats what it sounded like to me also. The Dem's saying "we needed a message" and "we didn't stand for anything" and "We didn't propose any kind of plan to solve anything" seem to be just repeating what Coulter said in Slander. Glad they didn't listen to her. parsy.

How bad was the loss ?

Today’s democrat party is disconnected from leadership power at every level of government.

1) The democrat party doesn't have the White House.(1R-0d)
2) The democrat party lacks a majority in the Senate.(51R-48d-1)
3) The democrat party lacks a majority in the House of Representatives.(226R-209d)
4) The democrat party lacks a majority of Governors seat across the 50 states.(25R-25d)
5) The democrat party lacks a majority of State Houses across all 50 states. (25R-22d)

What's laughably obvious to everyone is that Today’s democrat party doesn't enjoy majority leadership at either the state or federal level.

A) The same can be said of the green party.
B) The same can be said of the socialist party.
C) The same can be said of the communist party.

Which is why I'm with Ann, when the said on goodmorning america on election morning that the democrat party should disband.

Been thinking about this the last few days.

If the Democrats had the moral backbone to ask Clinton to step down during his impeachment trial, and installed Gore, would that have swung the 2000 election to the Gore camp?

I feel that their air of moral superiority prevented them from doing that, locking the country into the swing to the right.

I also understand how much nerve it would take to ask a seated president to resign.

If Clinton had the least bit of respect for the office he held, he would have done it on his own. Not once have I heard that Clinton even discussed it.

Contrast that to the President Bush,who is a man of very high moral integrety and who knows the importance of the office he holds. I loved it today when he told the reporter to stand when addressing the President (he made a joke of it, but the meaning was there). The only times I see him out of business attire (suit coat and tie) is when he is in Crawford. I'm sure he changes to running clothes when exercising, but there is very little film of that. Contrast that to Clintons many pictures in open necked shirts, even greeting people in the oval office in a jogging suit.

It's my impression that she wasn't actually giving them advice at all. I believe she was both describing them and criticizing them simultaneously.

IMHO, the Dems blew it. When the GOP had a creep in office, enough of them had the moral integrity to let him know they would not support him. When the Dems had a bigger creep in office, hardly any of them had the integrity necessary to take care of business. And yes, I think if Clinton had been booted, Al Gore would have won in 2002. parsy.

For a long time, I've been telling political activists -- mostly of the libertarian variety -- that it's not enough to know what you're against; you have to know what you're for, and you have to talk about how you intend to achieve it.

The Democrats had a very tough job for this exact reason. Their party identity had become that of an "anti-" party. They were simply "anti-" whatever the Republicans were advocating. However, they dared not talk about what they were for, because they already knew it repelled the average decent American. So they confined themselves to carping -- and reaped the predictable results.

Now, of course, it's time for the Republicans to put up or shut up.
