Condoleezza Rice will defeat Hillary Clinton for the presidency in 2008, New York Times political columnist William Safire predicted during a stop in Ypsilanti Monday.Note to Bill Safire:
2008 is SIX YEARS away.
That's practically a millenium in politics.
Do you have a crystal ball?

I like how before Condi becomes President in 2008 she is governor of California. Where does Bill get the idea she is going to leave the administratin and become Gov or Califonia in 2006 and then quit halfway through to become President?

Not a chance ~ JEB/RICE will probably defeat Hillary in 2008!

Great. Just what we need - two abortionists running for president in 2008.

Condi won't run for President, Hitlery longs for the opportunity. Neither will become President.

I am vey surprise to learn that Safire voted for Clinton? Is that true? I always thought he was a Republican?
To: ewing
I remember, and forgave him the first vote, chalking it up to 'irrational exuberance'...I still hold a grudge against him for his second endorsement of the Raping Toon, and have held suspect everything he says and writes, since then.

Well, he DID say 'predicted'. That's not a statement of fact. I've heard many Freepers predict the same thing. And I, for one, would love to see it happen.

Safire, like in the fire of hell - should he not obtain thinking capacity.

Condi will not run for President or Vice President at all. She is an academic, not a politician. The disturbing thing is the attitude of everyone who thinks the Republicans won't win by 2008 unless we run a black woman. We could be in an all-out shooting war with Islam by then, so it's a little early to assume that the forces of Hillary Clinton-style Political Correctness are going to triumph by default.
To: Phantom Lord
Possible, I think, but is it probable?
I wonder what Safire's thought process on that is.
To: philosofy123
I thought Safire was a staunch GOP'er as well but I remember that he did write a column about voting for Clinton, so it didn't surprise me when someone said he voted for Bubba twice.

That's true.
I would also like to see it, but I just think that 6 yrs. is a damned stretch for making political predictions.
What do I know, though... I'm just a guy from rural NC. :)
Using a word processor after smoking crack, is no no.
Not exactly a career building combination.
