"I like to make incisions into the belly of infants then - - - - the incisions until the child dies." So profound, so insightful.

You have *got* to be kidding.

Hell, that's why I don't keep one.

Can you BELIEVE the blasphemy here?! I guess some people have never heard Swansea '76 and Charlton '74 (and '76). As brilliant as the Who's studio work is, the live stuff just blows it all away, doesn't it? :)

Nothing Dylan wrote was sick like that. He was an interesting lyricist.
Maybe nothing you've read, but have you seen his personal journals or diaries? Everyone has thoughts that most people would deem "sick" Even you I'm sure... I'm not saying that I agree with the thoughts, but that what is written to never be read is the same as having a thought, and shouldn't alwats be taken literlery.... This wasn't a book that he wrote with the intention of publishing, these are notebooks of random thought, ideas and whatnot.

Again, the Who were great. But take away the Who's body of work, and rock today is exactly the same.

Too bad he didn't take that junkie whore of a wife with him.
BTW ... Townsend is a whack job.....the whole "I know what its like to be a woman cause I'm also one" (paraphrased)

Screw Springsteen. First he wrote an anti-cop song, and then wrote one that's at least partially from the alleged point of view of a pali homicide bomber. I can't stand him now.

Again, you have got to be kidding.

Say what you will about Springsteen. His new song had the "biggest impact."
To: NYC GOP Chick
No, I'm not. It is a fact recognized by anyone who pays attention to the history of pop music. Try to be objective.

These writings were most likely not intended for public comsumption.

Oh, really? What songs had the biggest impact at the NY WTC benefit? Baba O'Reilly and Won't Get Fooled Again. Yeah, a real Rock N Roll crowd there...

I will give Kurt Cobain credit for one thing, he was a big Smithereens fan.Give him credit for taking a trio of dirtbags to the top of the charts and giving "The King of Pop" a richly deserved kick in the ass. I don't remember the name of the critic that said it, but to paraphrase, some emotions are best expressed with an untutored scream and a shrieking guitar.

Why would such a thought even come to one's mind?Maybe it was the heroin. Nirvana also played a lot of the Rock for Choice venues. Great music is often made by people with stupid politics.

There has never been a band that matched "The Who" circa 1970. At that point it could be argued that they had the best guitarist, drummer, bassist and singer as well as the best songwriter. To all the doubters just listen to "Live at Leeds", and you will hear a band at the top of their game.
