Tonight the History Channel presents a special on the life and legacy of the former Hollywood star, governor and president, Ronald Reagan, who is shown here with his wife, Nancy, in a 1994 photo.

BEFORE he was 22, Ronald Reagan had pulled 77 people out of an Illinois lake where he worked as a lifeguard, preventing the drowning deaths of at least some of them.

RONALD REAGAN: A LEGACY REMEMBERED: The History Channel presents a private, first-hand exploration of the life and presidency of one of the most influential leaders of the 20th century. Ronald Reagan was a Hollywood actor turned politician. He became the 40th President of the United States and changed the history of the world. RONALD REAGAN A LEGACY REMEMBERED goes beyond a simple profile of Reagan's presidency and more deeply explores his role as husband, father, and friend.

Through unprecedented access to members of Reagan's family and rare family video footage, an insightful and powerful vision of the arc of Reagan's life emerges, touching on events from his childhood through his presidency, and ultimately to his battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Ronald Reagan's wife Nancy, and his three children, Patti, Ron Jr., and Michael, guide us through the story of the beloved President's life.

Will definately be watching this! I have to wash the horrible taste of the sickening 2-hour Kennedy lovefest that MSNBC tried to pass off as a National Geographic Explorer show on the search for PT-109.

The entire whow was about how great Kennedy was, and how smart Kennedy was and what a hero Kennedy was -- then at the end they go "Oh yeah, and Bob Ballard found a Torpedo Launcher sticking out of the sand at the bottom of the strait"

We are sure that PT-109 is buried in the sand under it, but the Navy has declared the site a grave and we cannot blow away the sand and uncover the boat. So the questions about what happened to the 109 that night convienently stay buried.

I'll be the would shed a tear if he could understand how big government is getting and how several new acts have so little regard for all that he believed in.

Tonight on the History Channel: Ronald Reagan: A Legacy Remembered

The two-hour show is hosted by former CNN Washington Bureau Chief Frank Sesno and sounds like it will provide a relatively positive portrait thanks to Sesno's tradition of fairness and access to Reagan's family and friends.

This morning on Today, when Matt Lauer asked, "What do you want people to learn about Ronald Reagan that they don't already know?," Sesno replied: "That he was more complex than we thought, that he wrote a lot more than people thought, that he really did enjoy, almost revel in the underestimation that people had of him, and that the current President Bush has taken a page out of this guy's book."

Great, just great. I will be taping for later watching.

(About the Cold War) - "I have this idea...we win, they lose. What do you think about that?" Well, I'll tell you what I thought - I thought it was the simplistic, overly optimistic earnestness of a poor guy who was in over his head...and then I'll be damned if he didn't pull it off. God Bless Ronald Reagan.

I saw parts of that show as well. It was frustrating. Two hours of pap and nothing to show for it. They had a similar one on the wreckage of Amelia Earhart's plane, but without the Kennedy love fest.
