Good deal all around Lott stays and gets a TV show! Which if done right gets the message out to the blacks that the right is the way to go.

Sheesh, Show...do you still believe in the tooth fairy too?

Lott can't even convince the base of the GOP that he is sincere...how do you expect him to do this great miracle in the black community?

Every time the guy gets in front of a camera, he hurts the party.

Actually, if this never happened, would he have ever got an hour on BET to talk. I hope he brings a wonderful conservative vision along with his apology.

A WHITE entertainment network would be welcomed with open arms by the networks

What the other networks have to say about it is immaterial. What RATINGS this network would earn has a LOT more to say. Do you think such a venture would be commercially viable?

The intensity level is way down. Lotts appearance today let the air out of the balloon. Bush led, Lott followed.

What's personal about this is Lott's statement a week ago Thursday - you bet that's personal - it insulted blacks, it insulted my Party, it insulted my President, it insulted my National Security Advisor, it insulted my Secretary of State, & it insulted potential black Republicans.

And he's apologized. Just tonight, your "insulted" President accepted Lott's apology.

Will you?

They poured a zillion dollars in here, but ran a stupid, incompetent game on the ground..those who tried to point out those deficiencies were scoffed at and ignored.

Give me a break.

I just thing complaining about a leader when there is only 50 possible replacements calls on you to name a possible replacement.

Oh that it could be anyone in the country then my preference would be Jeb Bush.

I have seen little leadership qualities from those other Senators. Nickles a little perhaps but he was able to drum up little support when he tried.

Regardless of how little I like Lott. If he steps down we need a strong replacement or we shoot ourselves in the foot.

I do not believe secondly that these remarks were NOT worthy of the punishment many here suggest. However most here have wanted Lott gone for a long time so I am not surprised.

We must still have a long way to go to make black people comfortable in society as a whole. Racial Separation does seem to be a continuing problem in the United States. Everywhere I go the blacks seem to like to be in their own communities, have their own events, nightclubs etc. They are not forced to but still do this. I live near UMES. I could get a minority grant there if I applied. There are many other Black Colleges. These colleges are that way because black choose to continue go there.

Lott did rattle me quite a bit when he talked about all the blacks he had hired. This makes me wonder if he did it just to make him appear to be non-racist. Maybe he really doesnt understand that we now need to work on making all people feel welcome in our society so blacks need no longer have their own neighborhoods, nightclubs etc. That would however require the minimum wage be increased to at least $10.00 / hour so these poor people could have a chance to better themselves. This is where the Republican party goes so far wrong. Keeping the minimum wage down so low is another form of slavery. We will always lose the black vote until it is raised.

Oh, really?

Trust me, there are venture capitalists out there who would GLADLY swallow whatever PC qualms they might have if you could show them how they would make a profit and recover their losses from the dot-bomb fiasco.

Yep.

Only the media and a few zealots from Free Republic will even bother to watch Lott on BET.

This will be over in a week. People can only be outraged for so long.

Black conservative ping

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

How is that like the election in Iraq?

Simple. Because the GOP senators knew Lott had the votes to win. To vote against him would leave the sinner open to retribution. Nickles counted the votes and knew he couldn*t dislodge Lott, for the reasons stated above, so he ducked the issue.

C*mon Sinkspur, you*re no fool. You know, if you think about it, no senator is going to go on a suicide mission and vote against his own Majority Leader, unless he knows the guy is a dead man walking. Lott was not, when they voted, anywhere near the corpse that he is today.

How about if we quit subsidizing illegtimacy so that there is a father in the black family and so that they don't drop out of school and can qualify for more than minimum wage jobs

No, because my reasons for wanting him out of the leadership have little to do with this latest foot-in-his-mouth episode...it was simply the straw that broke the camel's back.

He is costing us more than he is worth. If you're in a war, and you have an incompetent general, you haul his butt to the rear and put someone into the battle that can fight effectively.
