Why would the father ever leave in the first place when he could support a family?

Yeah right all those teenage girls getting pregnant by 2 -3 different males had husbands who left .
Clue they weren't in the home to begin with
They want no part of responsibility of raising kids. A quit piece is what they got

You live in some kind of dream world

$10 / hour would take the incentive away from these people to stay home instead of working. It would also save the government billions by making people in-eligible for assistance.

You could make it $20/hour but that could become counter-productive. It would hurt the economy too much and would not remove very many more people from assistance.

That is my problem. Minimum wage should be enough to take people that work off the welfare rolls of the country.

I think he's so damaged that he flap his jibs 24/7 on BET for a month...and nobody would bother to listen.

Lott spent all of his credibility and then some this past week.

If he'd been very proactive in statingn from the outset that he'd screwed up and that he was sorry, instead of a "F*** 'em if they can't take a joke" stance, this thing would be over with by now.

The vast majority of black women currently getting pregnant are not teens. The vast majority would keep the father in the home if he were an asset. But with the current minimum wage he is not an asset.

Can you imagine the damage this guy can do to himself and the Republican party if he gives an hour long speech to the Black Entertainment Network?

Does the name Al Campanis mean anything to you?

Everybody knows the free world rises and falls by what goes on in the United States Senate.

Now you're getting funny.

Let's see...

Judicial nominations...

Foreign policy...

War and peace...

Monetary policy...

Tax policy... Immigration policy...

Executive branch nominations...

Uhhmmm...yeah, I guess you could say that 'the free world rises and falls by what goes on in the United States Senate'.

WRONG they wouldn't be getting pregnant if they knew the government wasn't going to subsidize their kids
What makes you think that the woman is not allowing the man to stay in the house and it is not his choice to not be there to begin with and avoid all responsibilty

I agree with you. We will never gain ground if we never appear on BET, NAACP etc. I believe it will take time but the fact is we have done far more for Blacks than the Democrats and are far less racist than the Democrats.

Democrat racist remarks are accepted. That is because welfare will at least keep black families alive.

I say end Black Slavery (welfare / low wages) once and for all by raising the minimum wage. We got a good start with Contract with America. We now need a Contract with Poor America to end once and for all welfare for the non-working/don't want to work America. Far more would want to work at $10/ hour than $5.15 / hour. Those that didn't work would be far poorer than their neighbors working at $10 / hour. For now the non-workers are better off then the minimum wage workers.

He doesn't have to win over racist blacks. He has to win over reasonable people of all colors who are on the fence. And he's on the way to doing that.

I don't remember ever disagreeing with you before. But I do now, vehemently. Lott is not "on the way" anywhere except the trash heap of history. He is a vile, oleaginous racist. If Bush tolerates his continuing in the leadership, the 2004 campaign will be about one thing: Republican love of segregation.

THEREFORE, Bush cannot tolerate Lott's continuing in the leadership.

Trent's main problem was that this incident took place in a news vacuum. Any single large story would have moved this from the national public stage in a heartbeat.

Are you listening to Pat Buchanan on Fox right now?

What a president this man would make?

He's blowing Alan Colmes away!!!

Well, you're right. We don't disagree much, but we sure disagree here.

THEREFORE, Bush cannot tolerate Lott's continuing in the leadership.

In good time, Lott will quit on his own, or have a "revote."

But he should not step down while the long knives of the Maxine Waters are out.

Of course, you agree with Maxine, so my words fall on deaf ears.

I don't like race pimps, and Lott will not, and should not, cower to race pimps.

Black Congressional Congress isn't impressed with Lott's newsconference.

I just heard Maxine Walters say Lott was all other the place today. She also said he should resign and if he doesn't they will fight to make him do so.

Looking forward to Trent Lott's appearance on BET next week.

January certainly looks interesting

Nor do I. But no "race pimp" pried Lott's mouth open, poured words down his throat and forced him to regurgitate them.

A CEO is not worth 1 billion / year yet they get it.

If the shareholders decide he's worth it, he's worth it. Period.

There is a point where when someone is paid less that it is in effect slavery. I say that point is around $10 / hour.

Congratulations. Every employee, when you figure in the overhead, has to generate at least $25 an hour in revenue. That's a lot of money. Everyone who can't generate that much money gets fired immediately. Everyone whose labor can be performed more cheaply than $10 an hour by machinery gets fired as soon as the technology allows.

I base this on the fact that they qualify for some forms of welfare if that make that little or less.

End the welfare, and lower everyone's taxes.

After taxes her unemployment benefit is higher than her wages were.

Thank you for pointing out that taxes are too high.

Tell me what incentive does she have to get a job in the next six or twelve months.

She should have the option of working or starving.

"You just cannot make this stuff up..apology #5 on the way!"

Just put an afro wig on the boy and let him try to jive the black public. Democrats have fooled them for a long time. Lets see if Mr. Trent can do it. When the "Sharecropper's son" starts coming out be ready for a long sermon.

I just saw Al Sharpton on Hannity & Colmes say he forgives Lott, but Lott's gotta pay...a REVEREND who doesn't know the meaning of forgiveness

Well, you think Lott's remarks were racist, and I don't think they were anything of the kind.

We just disagree.
