I just got in and missed all the action today, but I see that Nichols has opened the door and also that, potentially, Rove is advising Bush to 'like' to see Frist as the new Republican Senate Majority Leader, replacing the blithering albatross Trent Lott.

I am researching Frist's record on critical conservative idealogies and ran a Google.com seach, starting here. Any information that anyone could add regarding the idealogies and voting records of the potential successors to Lott (McConnell, Nichols, Frist, Santorum, Hutchison, Kyl, McIt, etc.) would be appreciated and I believe informational for all.

Thank you,
AFE

Ps I am back to research now that I'm back home and will check back later or tomorrow.

I'm going to sit back and watch the feathers fall. I'm all 'debated' out for now. But keep looking for info. I'm interested to see what you find.

It would be instructional to look at Frist's stand on embryonic stem cell research. If you think it is proper to exploit embryos for body parts, then Frist won't make you ill. He infuriated me (I'm in E. TN) with his effort to get the president to allow open season on embryonic stem cell harvesting. If you're looking for a leader of the Senate, Nickles is the hardball player we need.

Here is something I don't understand why someone with a mike doesn't ask: I remember those sickening couples that Bubba had with him during something about supporting PBA. They claimed that it saved the life of the mother. Here's the question: If the procedure is to save the mother's life, and they induce an early labor, have the child's body completely out (except the head), WHY DO THEY HAVE TO KILL THE BABY? Isn't it already out of the mother? Also, could they not have performed a c-section to save both the mother and the child? I already know why they want PBA saved. However, am I wrong about how this procedure is performed?

Frist is very smart, very personable, a good speaker on TV. He did an excellent job in his recent post. But he is NOT pro-life, regretably.

Even a large number of Dems voted in favor of banning partial-birth abortion, because they knew the voters would be furious with them if they didn't. Daschle was among their number, because he didn't want to lose his seat.

So saying that Frist is in favor of banning partial-birth abortion isn't really saying very much. He is not a true conservative or a true pro-life Senator. It's too bad, because he's a very capable and likeable guy.

Bubba is a liar, it's that simple. Partial-birth abortion is never medically necessary. If a baby needs to be removed from its mother's womb at that late stage for some extremely unusual reason, it can be done by Caesarian, which is a routine procedure these days.

Didn't a large number of medical professionals state that PBA is not medically necessary? I wonder what rationale the parents have for doing something so monstrous.

Thanks. Yeah, I'm compiling votes on all issues and obviously some are more important to others. I am not pro-stem-cell-research and still would like to look at *all* issues that, as conservatives, are important to us all, either way. Like their issues or not, I think having all of them in one place is beneficial to all. Again, thanks for the input.

BTW, Sen. Warner of VA wants a new vote for Leadership as well, and before Jan. 7. I got an email from VA this afternoon regarding comments by Warner.

WHY DO THEY HAVE TO KILL THE BABY?

That is a great question. PBA is infanticide by any other name and how *anyone* in their right mind could support it is *way* beyond me.

I think Ivan has some beneficial graphics IIRC. Thanks

Oh geez, this is going to be all about abortion now. At this rate, if Lott is dumped for Frist, there will be bitching that Lott was dumped because he didn't go all the way. Just why picking a majority leader should be based on his views on one issue (segregation aside) escapes me, but whatever.

However, am I wrong about how this procedure is performed?

There are NEVER any medical indications for PBA. It is a way to kill a baby a couple doesn't want, period! It cannot be used in an emergency because the procedure for dilating the cervix takes several hours. If it were an emergency to save the mother's life, it would be done as a section. That would not do, however, because you then have a LIVE baby.

Partial Birth Abortion means the baby's head is delivered then surgical scissors are used to puncture the base of the baby's skull and it's brains are sucked out. This makes sure that when the baby is 'delivered' it is well and truly dead. It is the most gruesome of procedures, and one which would probably elicit howls of horror if it were done on animals at birth.

It is the most selfish of acts of which I can conceive. Many of those women x42 had with him on the stage have since had trouble carrying a child to term. As a result of the PBA, they now have what it called an 'incompetent cervix' that is no longer strong enough to hold a baby inside to give it time to grow enough to survive outside the womb. By having a PBA, they have sabotged their own chances for a later, successful pregnancy.

Great, that helps everyone. Thanks d. Anything else you have/can find on other issues, i.e., 2nd Amend., Borders, Immigration, Spending, Education, CFR, etc. would be beneficial.
