U.S. Navy Debuts It's New Anti-Terrorist Catch and ReleaseProgram The US Navy will be implementing a new "Catch and Release" program in its war on terrorism. This new program targets smaller terrorist cells and fringe groups for the purpose of intelligence gathering.
Once these small groups are captured and interrogated, they are then released in neutral territory, as seen in this Navy photo.

It's a Falcon for sure. My Dad had one. As long as this car was loaded with Al-Quaeda, I have no objections to the sacrifice of a classic car.

It's a Falcon for sure. My Dad had one....a classic car ROTFLMAO! I never had one, (what I had was even worse, a '62 Pontiac Tempest with a slant 4 and Corvair transaxle + 15" wheels, skinny ones. (it was a good snow car), but I did often ride to school in a Falcon, shared by a couple of brothers who were friends/neighbors. I wouldn't call the thing a classic by any stretch of the imagination. You'd have to have been smoking wacky weed to ever think a Falcon was some kind of classic. I do think the picture is a Falcon, but it could be a Fairlane of about the same, early 60s, vintage, it's kind of hard to tell way out their at the end of the catapult track. :)

Why do I get the distinct impression that this is NOT a photoshopped imagine, but that they really did launch a small car off of Enterprise's (CVN 65) port bow cat? I certainly wouldn't put it past the swabbies.

Maybe so. But the Mustang (generally acknowledged to be a classic) was just a gussied up Falcon, a largely cosmetic retrofit that Lee Iacocca hurried through development as a quick and dirty response to the muscle cars that GM and Chrysler were bring to market in the mid-60's.

Around here is Fairfax, VA, it would be Honda Civics with expensive pipes and ball caps on the drivers.

Why do I get the distinct impression that this is NOT a photoshopped ...Could very well be real. IIRC, on a Discovery Chanel show some time back about the build-out and testing of a new carrier, one or more cars were launched to check out the operation of the catapults. If the catapult isn't working correctly you don't want to find out by using an aircraft!

It's probably a legit pic. My childhood friends' father was a foreman at Hunters Point Naval Shipyard. He brought his two boys aboard a carrier ,(not sure which one), the Navy shot a VW bug off of the catapult. These days they shoot "deadloads", like the one here. This is the

This is the story behind it as told on StrangCosmos.com.
The aircraft carrier launching a car is the USS ENTERPRISE. It was for a fund raiser. The sailors get to use a sledge hammer on the car for a buck then we launch it. The proceeds go to either MWR or NMCRF.
However, this is the best line we've seen yet to caption this picture:
Just Another Day on the USS Chappaquiddick.

"The sailors get to use a sledge hammer on the car for a buck then we launch it." On this occassion, the donations to MWR exceeded all possible dreams.
The sailors "interrogated" the Islamic Jihad specialists while they were inside the car - using sledge hammers to retain their attention.
WHA - BANG (followed by a) "Where are they raghead!?"
(followed by a) WHAT -BANG A BANGGG (followed by a)
"Where did you hide the WMD!??
(Check the crowd of "interrogators" on the deck gleefully watching the ragheads land in the neutral zone.)

The picture wouldn't display on my computer for some reason although a lot of the pictures below were fine. I wanna see it.
