Blah, blah, blah,

Bottom line is, YOU don't see a problem that needs fixing.

You're also not happy with past track records, and that's fine.

But buckle up Austin, it's gonna happen!

Pretty open ended agenda there? Do you suggest we invade and occupy all such "threats" including Korea (Stalinist dictator), Venzuela (Castroite president in our hemisphere), Brazil (commie president in our hemisphere). The policy you recommend will only weaken our home defense by spreading us thin.

September 11 did not change that simple reality. American taxpayers are not a bottomless pit.

Well...that's better than the theory which holds "we keep failing but....if only we close our eyes, cross our fingers, and wish oh...so hard 'it will work *this* time.'" Our soldiers are too important to put in peril for wishful thinking of that type. Bring them home, and build up our home defenses!

The U.S. is right about what!

Getting Saddam before he gets us. Maybe even where you live.

Fortress America style thinking only gives the enemy scum a chance to infiltrate and hone their asymetrical warfare skills here at home.

F'em, get 'em in their house, not ours!

"All of the above goals have nothing to do with home defense."

You have a very limited view of home defense. In a world were the techniques of terrorism have been developed to a very effective degree and where Weapons of Mass Destruction are becoming more and more available, simply putting guards on the borders is not going to do it.

In fact the only thing that will work is to go on the offensive. If we do not wipe out the hornet's nest, the hornets are going to inflict great pain on us.

Gulf War I was certainly NOT "internatioanl social engineering". It was a very limited and determined response to a country that had invaded and totally raped and pillaged another sovereign country. This could not be allowed to stand.

Real concerned about "our tax money" aren't you? Got any concerns about a terrorist with a nuke?

Bring them home, and build up our home defenses!

And wait for them to come get us? Ouch! We were too busy building up a village.

But, China built a wall. We can do that. But can we build one high enough?

Actually, I don't feel like running home and hiding today.

Evidence?

I see that you have bought the Bravo Sierra hook, line and sinker.

I don't have time to re-educate you, so please just get out of the men's way and you will be fine.

Real Americans will see to it.

Stay safe; stay armed, stay out of the way.

Agree with you 100 percent. This war plan for Iraq has nothing to do with 9/11 and will make us even more of a target for terrorist attack. The policies of Bush in foreign policy are truly astoundinly stupid (domestically he shows signs of a real conservative and continues to surprise me and encourage me.)

Saddam and bin laden are good buddies, my friend, do a search on some of my linked articles that show Saddam's support for OBL and Al Quaeda and other terrorists.

The pipe dream is the dream than we can defeat terrorism *without* taking out saddam first. it is one and the same.

. it is simply a fact that saddam has links to terrorists, al quaeda, the ricin terrorists cuaght last week, and the 9/11 hijackers ... some choose to ignore the facts. plenty of FR articles on these links. look up the article linked via my bookmarks "AAA Saddam .." then go to reply 40 or so.

What is laughable is saying saddam is *not* a threat when *he already attacked us* in 1993 in the original WTC attack.

It's like saying Saddam has no weapons of mass destruction, when in fact he had SO MUCH OF THE STUFF HE KILLED TENS OF THOUSANDS OF IRANIANS AND KURDS WITH IT ... I speak of VX, mustard gas, and other chemical warfare agents.
great, so UN inspectors found 12 empty warheads, and we only have 27,000 warheads to go ... and only a few TONS of it is missing and not accounted for. oh joy.

Can you please inform us of where that ricin poison came from?

Lastly, I had no idea someone thinks Gulf War I was a failure. Kuwait would suggest otherwise.

"The primary goal of the Bush administration is to eliminate Saddam as a regional threat and to build democracy in Iraq (LOL!). "

Bullsh*t: You're quoting what Bush wants which is a lie. Democracy doesn't have squat to do with anything. The regional threat to who? Israel? They can protect their own selves just fine.

Bush wants Saddam out because he tried to kill his dad. Add to this Iraq is linked to some of the attacks against the US as well as harboring known terrorists. Finally, we've pissed Saddam off so many times with the gulf war, sanctions, overflights and many missle strikes that he will 100% no doubt give the first nuke he makes to the first one who will blow up Washington DC !

If these aren't enough reasons to take the guy out then what the hell is?

Just something to think about. Hey! What do I know?

"The policies of Bush in foreign policy are truly astoundinly stupid"

Think about this and maybe you will understand. Until Clinton there was never ever a successful terrorist attack in the U.S.. Clinton showed the world the US was week many times over. Bush, Rice and the rest know this and they won't let the US appear week while there in office.

Simple: If you know some big ol boy will kick your ass you don't mess with him. If you do get a hit on him it will be fast and week. Your only choice is to stay away or kill him.

We are not policing or protecting France (for instance). I agree with the author. As the rhetoric from the French and others goes up, the more sure I am in the fundamental correctness of our leaderships' actions.

Leadership is not finding the parade and stepping in front of it. Leadership is taking an unwilling parade the way you want to go, because it is the right thing to do.

The United States will have a role in the post-Saddam Iraq. We will have a presence in the region. And despite what the naysayers and spineless contrarians have to say, a strong U.S. presence in the area will decrease the terrorist threat at home. This is because we will be able to better keep an eye on them and we will have the assistance of the very, very grateful Iraqi people.

The British learned the folly of "Peace in Time." The Americans learned the price of isolationism in the face of authoritarianism. Evil must be confronted.
