Al Gore Would Not Refuse 2004 Presidental Nomination
ABC News & the NY Post ^ | January 28, 2003 | Marc Ambinder

Those in the know are not counting former Vice President Al Gore out.

Al Gore is not out of politcs.

Folks who are close to him say that his opting out of the 2004 Presidential Campaign does not mean he would refuse the nomination.

About to sweat for it he wouldn't.

Just letting you in on what I know.

A clue of a wisp of an indication of an answer of how much coverage MetWest Executive Gore will get as he pops up across America with some regularity: A man described as 'Salons returning national correspondant' chatted up Mr. Gore at the Grappa Italian Cafe in Park City, Utah last week, and practically folled him into the men's room.

When is the last time we had a brokered convention?

If I am not mistaken, it was brokered or very close to it in the 1976 RNC. Reagan and Ford went down to the wire. Reagan came amazingly close to unseating a sitting President, which is as Peggy Noonan put it, "a very un-Republican thing to do."

Nice move, Gramps. Amazing the numbers of ways these people come up with to deceive the electorate.

BTW, didya hear the latest? Seems Clinton admitted to earning $9 million last year - giving (ahem) speeches. You do the math. At $100 thou a speech (if every venue paid him that amount), he musta been awful busy what with travel and everything. You'd think we woulda heard about all these high-paid speeches, wouldn't ya?

And you bet she knows it! Gore's out... Liebermans a joke and so is Gephardt.

Kerry and Edwards can't tie their own shoes!

Kerry/Clinton, 2004. The media will say she adds gravitas. HA!

That explains Gore's willingness to get into the game so late.

And that set the stage for Regan's victory in 1980.

Remember Liz, the Clintoon made that 9 million $'s for the chilrun, the downtrodden blacks, the abused Gays and to advance Abortions for every minority woman who is pregnant!

Amazing that he made that much. Any company that paid him $100K needs to be boycotted until everyone responsible is fired.

I believe the last brokered convention was with Wendell Winkie in 1944 (40?). He wasn't even a candidate for Prez but the convention was split and they nominated him as a prominent economist/compromise. At least that's what I can remember from the history books.

I think there's a good chance we could go through Super Tuesday and still not have a presumptive nominee; the Rats give out delegates proportionally in all states, I think, so without winner-take-all the delegate count is much closer.

Regan did step down in 1976 before the count, correct?

Shareholders (of publicly held companies where he spoke) should also be up in arms. Especially since this Cloonatic's speeches have apparently been hidden from public view.

He could not stand the heat as an early runner.

Neither can the Hilldebea$t. So they will sit on the sidelines and watch their fellow rats eat each other up with our help.

Then they will be ready for some draft in 2004.
