I know this is off topic but, as a nOOb here, is there someplace on the site or maybe a link that can explain what a "bump", "ping", "bttt", etc means? don't mean to be a pain but I didn't know where else to ask this.

Bump and BTTT (Back to the top) mean the same thing. They are a means to cause the thread to appear at the top of latest comments. That way the thread might get more traffic.
Ping means to flag someone's attention to something. If I know you are interested in aardvarks, and I see a thread about one, I will "ping" you. That is, I will put your screen name in the To: field. That way, when you next log on, it will show up in your "My comments" screen.

Oh, most assuredly. "Ping" is named after the UNIX command - it calls a FReeper's attention to a thread by name. When you ping someone you include their name in the "To" box and when they do a self-search it comes up and they are guided to the thread.
"BTT" is "bump to the top," the top, that is, of the Latest Posts. This keeps a thread alive and on that list for everyone, not just those addressed in the "To" field, to see. It is often used when a FReeper has no particularly important input but wants to keep the thread active.
HERE's a LEXICON that will clue you in. Welcome to FR! And don't mind these crazies you see on this thread. They're not normal and mature like me.
