Have you ever watched a good boxer, I mean a really great pugilist?
Have you watched how he'll telegraph his punches for a moment: left, left, right hook, right hook...
And then he'll show you that here comes his knockout roundabout punch from the right, except that instead of throwing it, he jabs his opponent with a surprise left.
Well, that's what's going on right now.

To find the video, go to www.fujitv.co.jp, click on the news tab (it is the purple one, sixth from the left, between the orange sports tab and the light green anime tab). Scroll down under "Today's News". It's the second story shown - click on the link for the speed of your Internet connection to see a RealPlayer video clip.

My Japanese is not that good - it talks about President Bush's plans, then shows a map of the "DMZ", then cuts to a view of a blue-helmeted reporter inside what looks like a "UN outpost" in the DMZ, pointing to mountains of Iraq in the distance, surrounded by camouflage netting, pointing to a UN observation tower, then showing a couple of tanks with personnel being moved by trucks (the vehicles are flying a flag, not-US, not-UN), and then cuts to a few seconds of info about the American School of Kuwait temporarily closing.

Thanks!

I don't see anything special about this Japaneese post. Looks like normal CNN stuff to me.

Forming up your army in front of the enemy has been a known psychological weapon since ancient times. The DOD isn't broadcasting troop deployments, but with 7 Allied warships moving through the Suez Canal yesterday, they aren't doing much to hide it either. While the U.N. discusses metaphysics, at least four USA divisions, one UKA division, 1 USMC MEF, at least four USN battle groups, one RN battle group, 2 USN ARGs, 10 USAF air wings, and the better part of one RAF wing are coming to a town near Saddam. US, UK & Turkish SOF are operating in northern Iraq and a large chunk of the Turkish army is massing on the Iraqi border. Israel & the U.S. conducted a full-scale test of the Patriot & Arrow systems yesterday. In 4 weeks we're going to boogie.

OK. The hamsters are gone now!
The trouble with these links is they get updated regularly throughout the day by the TV networks in Japan, but the URL sometime stays the same (linking to a different, new video). If you don't have Japanese language text or cannot read the text, it is hard for me to describe where on the page they are. If there is a way to archive here the streaming file, then we can look at it later. Otherwise you usually have to go to the site quickly once I post these kinds of things.
Fortunately, at nearly 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time Tuesday, you can go to this page:
http://fnn.fujitv.co.jp/headlines/CONN00027124.html
and find the link to the report (from the Kuwaiti DMZ), also you can chose the streaming video speed that you want. This should work! Hopefully! Please report.

The link is there but it's a real audio format, and I've never been able to successfully install it on my PC running Windows ME. I'm going to have to upgrade to something better, because I'm missing out on a lot of things.

I write to you to inform you that the school will temporarily closed from the 10th of February through to the 21st of March.Does that mean the Kuwaitis expect the war to last about 6 weeks?
