There are Viking Runestones, I have seen pictures of with Viking writing, I think 1000-1100 dating.

I don't have the pictures at hand would take me a little while to get hands on them, but would if you are more interested.

They are in Heavener OK. I think it is a state park along the Arkansas state line.

Yes. I believe I blew a huge hole in the Tenesee stone theory.
As for the Cherokee thing, the evidence is so incredibly thin as to be humorous.

God made their skin darken so that the other group could tell them apart and keep separate from them for their own safety.

Yeah........

Matthew 23:28
 28.  In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.
John 7:24

"And that therefore, the super guilty people have to shed their own blood for their own sins. "

Go ahead.... TRY to find this in your bible!

there is no conflict between the BoM and the Bible from the LDS POV.

Did you ACTUALLY type this line with a straight face?

I guess you could.. knowing that many in your 'audience' will not find out what your organization's POV is!

" . . . . . Voyages Of The Pyramid Builders, by Dr Robert Scoch, that's exactly the theme of this book."

Thanks for the book title. I'll look for it. I'm reading, "A Traveler's History of Mexico," (Kenneth Pearce)right now, and seeing what the 'conventionals' have to say about the Olmecs, et al. Many paths cross here, surprisingly. But then, maybe not surprisingly.

Bronze, eh? That may show a connection between Lake Titicaca and Sumer as well, considering the technology that is needed to process tin. Fact is, if I remember correctly, bronze was also used in some of those ancient and monstrous stone structures in the Americas to hold them together in case of earthquakes.

Regarding the Olmecs and 'bearded ones,' there is a question of whether or not they arrived here together or converged here from separate locations. Some of the carvings appear to show the 'bearded ones' being tortured, and they may have been a slave class at some point. I'll read further.

Closer to the topic, if the 'bearded ones' were actually remnants from Israel, migrating to northern Mexico, it may point to a probability that there may be a semitic tie between some American Indian tribes and the jews. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Different Jesus in BoM versus the Holy Scriptures."

LDS theology about Christ is consistant with the LDS view of what the Bible says. Your theology is consistiant with with your view of what the Bible says. Both of us think our view is correct, but being correct is not part of the definition of 'christian'.

It is up to each person to do their best to study and follow Christ, and it us up to God to pass judgement on us at the end. And if you want to go on the warpath against some religion you don't agree with, this isn't the thread for it.

That's a relief to know he's not related to JS, but on the other hand, I know that God doesn't hold us guilty for the sins of our fathers (or great grandfathers).

To Grig: The ability to be inconsistent is a peculiar quality.

The ability to deceive another person is downright dangerous.

True,

Though as He says, the sins of the fathers can bump down the results, influences, consequences to the 3rd & 4th generations.

Such typically requires significant prayer for freedom/deliverance.

....being correct is not part of the definition of 'christian'.

and...being correct is DEFINITELY not part of the definition of  LDS!

However it IS part of the definition of  being a follower of  Jesus:

(Where to start? and where to stop??)

NIV 2 Timothy 1:13
13.  What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus.

NIV 2 Timothy 2:1-2

 1.  You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
 2.  And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.

NIV 2 Thessalonians 2:15
 15.  So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the teachings  we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.

NIV 2 Thessalonians 3:6
 6.  In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers, to keep away from every brother who is idle and does not live according to the teaching  you received from us.

NIV 1 Timothy 1:3
 3.  As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain men not to teach false doctrines any longer

NIV 1 Timothy 1:7
 7.  They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm.

NIV 1 Timothy 2:7
 7.  And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle--I am telling the truth, I am not lying--and a teacher of the true faith to the Gentiles.

NIV 1 Timothy 4:1-2
 1.  The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.
 2.  Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.

NIV 1 Timothy 4:6
 6.  If you point these things out to the brothers, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, brought up in the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed.

NIV 1 Timothy 6:2-5
 2.  Those who have believing masters are not to show less respect for them because they are brothers. Instead, they are to serve them even better, because those who benefit from their service are believers, and dear to them. These are the things you are to teach and urge on them.
 3.  If anyone teaches false doctrines and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching,
 4.  he is conceited and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions
 5.  and constant friction between men of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.

NIV 2 Timothy 2:15-18
 15.  Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
 16.  Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.
 17.  Their teaching will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus,
 18.  who have wandered away from the truth. ....
