Do you mean the New World's ancients as tomatoes, potatoes and corn all came from the new world?

Anything with inards as slimy as tomatoes must be evil. Tomatoes "slimy"? You've obviously never eaten stewed okra.

I'm allergic to liberals. Whenever I'm around them, my blood pressure shoots straight up and I get cranky and argumentative.

I never have liked tomatoes. Now I have a legitimate excuse for not eating them. Send them to me I LOVE THEM! And, so far, I haven't assaulted anyone. lol!

Stewed tomatoes and stewed okra on a light bread sandwich, so you have to lift and eat fast, lessen it falls through the crust.

Eat what God intended you to eat, you can't go far astray.
This is actually very good advice. Most of the dietary problems we run into today are because we do too little shopping around the perimeter of a supermarket and too much in its middle (with the exceptions to this rule being bottled olives [wash and soak before eating to remove the sodium], nuts, and olive oil)

At dinner last night with neighbors, we irrefutably decided that diet drinks and salads cause obesity. After all, emperical evidence and observation shows that these individuals constantly consume these these items.

I still like SOS, SPAM and live on coffee..draw the line on powdered eggs, powdered milk and bug juice tho...
ON the other hand, it has been PROVEN BEYOND A DOUBT, that anyone that drank coffee while on the battlefield during the War Between the States died.

Some people do have reactions to the Solanus family of plants.
Nightshade, potatoes, tomatoes, bell peppers.
It is interesting. Here near Seattle, there is a black nightshade plant that has flowers that look EXACTLY like tomato flowers. They produce fruit - berries of sorts - that are a bit bigger than pea sized and a dark purplish color, almost black.
Being a daredevil type, I’ve actually eaten a few of them. They have a bit of a tomato flavor, and are mildly sweet.
Never have been able to find out if fur sure they are poisonous.
Most plants, probably 97%, are actually edible, although they might give you the chits for a few days. But there is a small percentage that if you have them for breakfast, you will never eat dinner. Ever. Oleander comes to mind, a highly, highly lethal plant.

In my first year as a RN (late 1980’s/early 1990’s), I took care of a toddler (Alexis) who had frequent admissions for various abdominal complaints. She had major work ups, and they couldn’t find a diagnosis, but IIRC, her nutritional status was poor. She ended up with a Broviac (long term IV catheter inserted into a large vein in the chest or neck) and placed on TPN (IV “feedings”).
On her last admission, she had overwhelming sepsis (infections in her blood). Usually, sepsis is one single organism (usually bacteria, but could be other microorganisms such as a fungus). Her blood cultures grew out a fungus (not uncommon with TPN) and 4 bacteria which are rarely seen, except in aquarium water. The docs theorized after her death that the mother injected fish tank water into her Broviac, which caused the sepsis. Most likely Munchausen by Proxy, but never proven (it’s very difficult to prove from a legal standpoint).

'It's a crazy notion that we can accept that 10 pints of beer - which, after all, is derived from wheat - can affect behaviour, but not other foodstuffs,' said Hill. Not just beer! Vodka effects behavior, but that comes from potatoes, not wheat. Wine alters moods, too. But that comes from grapes. And also whiskey, from corn mash not wheat. Hmmm, what do all of these beverages have in common?

Didn't early Americans think tomatoes were poison? They're a member of the nightshade family, related to hemlock IIRC.
