"On Feb. 17, the French armies confirmed that Charles-de-Gaulle will not head for the Gulf region after finishing the exercises in the Mediterranean. "

Yep, they are going to station it off the coast of Maryland, in a show of 'force', to deter US and British agrression toward they're gallant leader Saddam.

Have you read about it? That thing is a multi billion dollar engineering abortion. Among the MAJOR engineering flaws is the nuclear powerplant with insufficient cooling for more than a few minutes at max output when it will go into emergency shut down for an hour or so before it can be restarted.

It would make a great artificial coral reef, or a wreck dive training site.

Now for 3 months of liberty!

Hell, it'll take 3 months to get the B.O. smell to a tolerable level again.

Nuclear-powered and escorted by a fleet of five frigates, the French carrier has on board 14 Super-Etendards, two radar Hawkeye planes, four Rafales, two Pedro helicopters and two Pumas.

22 aircraft, of which 18 are fixed-wing.

By comparison, a Nimitz-class carrier like the Truman carries 85 aircraft, including F-14 Tomcats, F/A-18 Hornets, EA-6B Prowlers, S-3B Vikings, E-2C Hawkeyes, SH-60 Sea Hawks and C-2 Greyhound.

Candy-ass Frenchies can't even build a respectable carrier (they count on us defending them with our carriers).
