I EMAILED THIS TO CBS WHEN THEY FAILED TO COVER PRESIDENT BUSHES SPEECH.
WHAT ARE YOU THINKING SENDING DAN TO BAGDAD TO INTERVIEW HUSSEIN, WHO THEN EDITS THE TAPE, AND YOU REFUSE TO LET THE WHITE HOUSE COMMENT ON THE INTERVIEW AS YOU PLAY IT.
YET YOU ARE THE ONLY TV NETWORK RIGHT NOW NOT COVERING PRESIDENT BUSHES SPEECH. EVERY OTHER NETWORK IS LIVE AS I TYPE THIS TO YOU.
CBS IS SHOWING "EXTRA" RIGHT NOW. WHAT ARE YOU THINKING. WHERE IS YOUR BRAIN. NO WONDER FOX JUST STOMPED YOU IN THE 18-49 GROUP SWEEPS.
NO WONDER YOUR NEWS RATINGS KEEP TANKING. AT THIS RATE I WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED IF DAN WENT TO CUBA AGAIN, TO GET CASTRO'S VIEW OF THE POTENTIAL IRAQ WAR.
TIME TO DUMP YOUR NETWORK NEWS, COVERT TO ENTERTAINMENT ONLY, SO YOU CAN TRY TO COMPETE WITH FOX THERE, SAVE MONEY, AND SEND DAN OFF TO RETIRE IN BAGDAD OR CUBA OR NORTH KOREA, WHERE HE MAY FIT IN BETTER. MAYBE YOU C0ULD START A NETWORK THERE, HELL WITH YOUR VIEWPOINT YOU NEVER KNOW YOU MAYBE RATED NUMBER ONE THERE...BUT NOT HERE.
I ONLY CAUGHT THIS TONITE SINCE I WAS CHANNEL SURFING TO SEE WHAT YOU WOULD BE SHOWING. I WILL NEVER WATCH CBS AGAIN, EXCEPT TO SEE WHO ADVERTISES ON CBS, SO I CAN EMAIL THEM THAT I PLAN TO BOYCOTT THERE PRODUCTS UNTIL THEY DUMP YOU TOO!!!!!!!!!!

Geez, you sound just as mad as the Toby Keith fans were after Jennings removed him from the 4th of July line up.
Righteous Indignation is what I would call it.

I think it was your local CBS affiliate....I had the pleasure of seeing Dano, but our local ABC and NBC stations did not carry Bush.

The CBS station here in Seattle carried it. It must be a local thing.

Its a local thing. In fact, in my area, CBS was the only station that did cover it - NBC and ABC did not.

Your beef is with your local affiliate, not with CBS. They put the speech on the satellite, Dangerous Dan and all. But if the local station decides its money from 1 to 2 minutes of commercial time (about all that could have possibly aired during the time taken up be the speech) is more important than serving the community, that's their call, not CBS's.
Oh, and don't just call your affiliate and yell at the first person to answer the phone. She's just the receptionist. Ask nicely for the newsroom, then ask for the News Director. If he's not there, ask for his voicemail. And ask him nicely why it didn't air on his station. It may not have been his call; the station's general manager may have ordered the news director not to run it. In that case, get your call transferred to the general manager and rip his/her head off! *grin*

Sumner Redstone, CEO of Viacom, which owns CBS, is now being investigated for insider trading during the Clinton administration. Had Gore been elected, I don't think that investigation would be taking place. Viacom was a big beneficiary of the '96 Telecommunications Act, and of the Reno Justice Department's allowing its merger.

Here in Philly, the CBS, ABC and NBC stations had it on. The Fox station did not.
Actually, that time slot between 7 PM and 8 PM (all times are EST) is a very profitable hour for local affiliates. They get all the commercial revenue in that period (unlike 8 PM to 11 PM for the big three or 8 PM to 10 PM for the junior three). So a half hour Bush speech at that time period puts a big ding in the affiliate's wallets. Typically, they get seven to eight minutes of commercials in this period, not one or two.
Which was why the networks were willing to cover the speech -- it didn't cut into prime time and their best commercial hours.

Our local CBS affiliate carried the speech. The local stations had the option.
Here NBC and Fox didn't. ABC and CBS did.

Dan was on with the speech, here in Rhode Island, as were the other two networks. I always check, when these things come on. It must have been your affiliate.

(Of course, that's Oprah Hour...) I don't know why I assumed that, since his profile page doesn't say...

CBS was the only one of the 3 biggies to carry it here.

Is there any reason that Bush can't simply kick CBS out of the White House?
It's what I'd do: "You gave a foreign enemy a platform to speak without allowing us to respond in the way we wanted to. CBS is now banned from all WH events until further notice."
What are they gonna do? Give him bad coverage?? LOL..

Thanks for the information!
