JAPAN OFFERS UNCONDITIONAL SUPPORT OF U.S.A. ON IRAQ ATTACK ISSUE, U.N. RESOLUTION OR NOT
Yomiuri News (Original Article in Japanese) ^ | 7 March 2003 | AmericanInTokyo

Posted on 03/06/2003 11:34:21 AM PST by AmericanInTokyo

From the Japanese language Yomiuri News report:

The Government of Japan has just announced (around 1 p.m. Eastern Time Thursday) that it will UNCONDITIONALLY STAND WITH THE UNITED STATES, and will support it's ally in the event war is brought upon Iraq, and this support is WITH OR WITHOUT any additional, new United Nations Resolution.

The statement said that time has run out for Iraq to disarm, the US will be supported by Japan, and the US-Japan alliance will be in place.

Japan will note in it's statement, coming up shortly, that Iraq has weapons of mass destruction, has been told time and again to eliminate them, they have not done so, the US may move to take action, and since the continued possession of WMD by Iraq is unacceptable, Japan has made the official decision they will follow whatever the USA does in this situation. They state that Iraq is only strengthened by the positions put forth by France, Germany and Russia, as it delays Iraqi compliance with the UN resolutions.

Japan noted that action on Iraq is liable to occur in the early hours of an upcoming morning in Iraq, therefor, noting international time differences, Japan will be the first major democracy in the world to issue a statement on the hostilities; and in this sense, it is readying itself for a quick, strong message of US support by Prime Minister Koizumi.

Japan is citing UN Resolutions 1441, 678 and 687 as reason enough for it now to support the United States in the event of war. In addition, it says it wants no division between the United States and Japan with the current, increasing threats from neighbor North Korea, so it will fortify wherever possible the existing US-Japan military alliance.

I think it's great to have an ally like Japan.

Those who seek to trash the United States
for it's efforts in Afghanistan and Iraq
have a clear history to ponder.  Sadly they
ignore all the evidence that shows what we
can achieve when given half a chance.

I'd love to have a Japan or six in the
middle-east from the Arab states.

Damn! I wish I could forget the Death March. It is a long time to hold a grudge. If they would only offer a sincere apology.

JAPAN OFFERS UNCONDITIONAL SUPPORT OF U.S.A. ON IRAQ

Good for the Japanese. I just bought a Mitsubishi HD TV, and D VHS VCR, and JVC audio/video and DVD player. When I get rid of my BMW, I will go Honda or Toyota. I am wondering, however, if it has anything to do with North Korea? I do not have a clue about that, just wondering.

This BIG! story has been out there now for about two-three hours.

Is it being carried in the English language press?

CNN interested?

No, I didn't think so.

This shatters their propaganda talking points about "unilateralism". It is embarrassing and uncomfortable.

They will ignore this for as long as they can, like they ignored the nearly 100,000 to 300,000 Koreans who turned out a week ago in Seoul with a MASSIVE US FLAG and many smaller US flags, in support of US-South Korea alliance.

I called that phone number, and a lady answered in Japanese, but quickly changed to English when I asked her to. I told her that we good Americans thank Japan, for being there for us, and I told her we loved them for this. She was shocked (in a good way) and was very pleased, and so polite, and thankful for my call.
