Dems Look to Hillary to Rescue Party From Sharpton
NewsMax.com ^ | 3/08/03 | Carl Limbacher and NewsMax.com Staff

An unexpectedly strong early showing by Democratic Party presidential hopeful Rev. Al Sharpton has party faithful looking to Hillary Clinton to rescue Democrats in 2004.

With charismatically challenged candidates like Sens. John Kerry, Joe Lieberman and John Edwards leaving audiences yawning - and Sharpton wowing crowds wherever he shows up - "U.S. News and World Report" predicts:

"If a favorite other than Sharpton doesn't become obvious by late fall, look for a strong effort to draft Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton."

"The Iowa Democratic Party," says the magazine's "Washington Whispers" column, "is already thinking that. We hear it wants Clinton as the featured speaker at an annual fall event--an invite that's irked Sen. John Kerry."

Democratic strategists fear that Sharpton "could actually score big" in the South, reports "Whispers." Others predict that the radical reverend could even win the South Carolina primary.

Last week, NewsMax.com's report that Sharpton is the presidential frontrunner among New York City Democrats in a recent Zogby International survey sent usually reliable party organs like the Washington Post into fits of apoplexy.

"Truth is, at this point, polls really don't mean much of anything," huffed the Post's Terry Neal, who, along with the rest of his media colleagues, was doing his best not to notice the Sharpton coup until NewsMax spilled the beans.

Mr. Neal, however, failed to explain why his paper and so many others keep commissioning, let alone reporting on, all those early, meaningless presidential polls.

The fact is, Rev, Sharpton is the nation's most popular presidential candidate among black voters, according to a separate Time/CNN poll. And if his supporters can't be convinced to support a white Democrat come Nov. 2004, the party's presidential prospects are toast.

No wonder party insiders are looking to the wife of "America's first black president" to save the day.

It is simply inconceivable to me, STILL, that ANYONE, other than a few thoroughly evil and corrupt people, could seriously think this is a good idea!!! And what is even worse is the thought that there are people who would actually vote for her!!!!!!
Be afraid!!! Be very afraid!!!

..

Hillary relaxes after a hard day campaigning in an effort to subdue honesty and decency in America enough to get herself installed as queen of the universe ..supreme ruler ..God president.

Hillary running in '04 will be predicated on the state of the economy and the success of the WOT, not on Al Sharpton and the other Rat contenders.

don't ever call her that...ever, not even in jest...it is never going to happen

I am just stating Hillary's heart-felt (if she even has one) ambition. Underestimating the Clinton's gave us the Clinton's in the first place. If we understand the enemy's motivation we will be in a better position to fight. Saying it will never happen is just what she wants you to think.

Everything about Bill Richardson, "says" that he is running. He's been posturing as a conservative Democrat from the very beginning of his run for the governor's office; and it's easy for him to get away with it, because the incredibly wealthy liberals in New Mexico, love his tax cut ideas.

The North Koreans did not go to see him because he was somebody with whom they could talk. They were sent by Red China to make Bill Richardson look good.

He is going to be Hillary's military advisor; he is setting up to appear as easily qualified to take Dick Cheney's spot. By the time of the Democrat Convention, people will think that Bill Richardson is a military genius who would rather wage peace, first; and, he will not have been against President Bush.

That's the big tip, here.

The other contenders are going to be seen as being anti-Bush as Commander in Chief and not really in support of our military men and women, while Bill Richardson will be seen as being pro-Bush as Commander in Chief and definitely pro-military ... just having a difference of opinion on how to proceed against the terrorists.

Bill Richardson is almost running as John F. Kennedy, but for the Vice-President's spot. He's looking and sounding smart, and he's looking and sounding capable.

Hillary Clinton and The [formerly Democrat] Party have examined the public-desired traits of John McCain and are marketing them in the public persona of Mr. Richardson.

Much that Hillary needs to override her obvious weakness as well as wardrobe of limousine - liberal - lawyer - lackeys.

Go, Al, go!

Black conservative ping

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

We need to organize a massive Freep of the DemocRAT presidential primaries in 2004. Go Sharpton Go!

I'm on board, even though I will have to change my registration since MD doesn't have an open primary.

I've written to both of my RAT Senators and to Kerry, LIEberman, Edwards and Graham that there was just such a movement underway in order to punish the RATs for the Estrada filibuster.

Your post is well founded, and really points out
the reasons for the posturing. Albeit, he is not
without baggage.

The Department of Energy, the Bermuda Triangle of Cabinet agencies, is claiming another victim this week. The Case of the Missing Hard Disks has doomed Secretary Bill Richardson's aspiration to be Al Gore's running mate. Republican senators are demanding Richardson's resignation. George W. Bush is turning the nuclear bumbling into a campaign issue. The Senate Armed Services Committee summoned Richardson for a spanking on Wednesday. Democratic senators ripped him. Republicans suggested that an independent agency, not DOE, should supervise nuclear weapons and security. Sen. Robert Byrd, D-W.V., vowed that the Senate would never support Richardson again. Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., growled, "You have lost what credibility you had left on Capitol Hill." During his days as an international troubleshooter, Richardson liked being called "007," but not even James Bond could escape from the torture chamber Richardson is in now

If Hillary wants the Dem nomination in 2004, it's hers.

The current slate of Democratic contenders are political lightweights, who would yield to Hillary in a heartbeat.

Only one man stands in the way of her presidential ambitions: George W. Bush.

If enough public sentiment can be turned against him (from a negative outcome of the Iraq war or a serious downturn in the economy), Hillary will pounce.

And a Hillary presidency would be the country's worst nightmare.

We must be ever vigilant.

If he does become Hill's running mate, I wonder if journalists will use the term gravitas a thousand times a day for the next month.

Excellent point. I am convinced that Hillary is behind the entire US "Anti-war" campaign, a curious movement indeed which is exclusively anti-Bush.

A curious movement indeed which never says a word about Saddam.

A curious movement indeed which never said a peep about Clinton's military atrocities, including the murder of 3000 Serb civilians in his air war.

Rev. Al Sharpton has appeared on Bill O'Reilly's show several times. I have respect for him just because he has more guts to show up and face Bill than most liberals but this is where the back slapping ends.

With a thud!

This guy really has absolutely no grasp of Economics. I heard him tell Bill how he was going to solve the unemployment problem. By hiring a lot of people to work for public projects. In Al's simplistic world, taxpayers will gladly pay for it all.

Go for it Al! We all love you(wink wink).
