RALLY FOR AMERICA - VENTURA COUNTY, CA

Sunday March 23 11:30 to 2:00 at the Ventura County Government Center. Corner of Telephone and Victoria - right by the flag poles. This is a pro-troops, pro-President, pro-USA, show your spirit, kind of rally. Be part of nationwide show of support! Stop by after church and wave a flag. Give your kids a good lesson in civic duty. Tell Hollywood to take a hike! Be part of an exciting, positive event!

Good morning Ventura County!!!! Starting to get some momentum going for our rally. Send in any progress reports - don't be shy.

Press release - done, freepmail me for a copy. Can be e-mailed to all that you know and love.

Flyer - done, freepmail me for some copies. Very simple

Flags - Gary with American Flag and Cutlery in Ventura will be happy to lend us 3 or 4 big ones and will provide 75 to 100 small ones. He will be joining us on Sunday the 23rd.

Banners - Tommy of Tommy's Landscape will be bringing his huge (2 x 5) support the troops banners on Sunday

Good Stuff happening:

Val E. Girl - will co-chair our chapter! Yipee!! jeni - Announced the rally at the Support Group Meeting of 4 squadrons. Put up flyers at Pt. Heuneme Merry10 - will distribute some flyers in Camarillo Cindylou - taking care of our base station (table) at our rally. Burning CD of patriotic songs to play Capitan_refugio - putting pressure on the Star to start covering pro-troops rallys Rabid Republican - St. Augustine Academy (her kid's school) will be passing the flyer out to all students and families

Needs:

Some military spouses willing to be interviewed by the press. Don't have to be freepers.

List of contacts for our radio stations.

Somebody to work KHAY has a potential sponsor.

Somebody to help me contact (or recontact) our local Lion's club, Kiwanis, Chamber of Commerce, etc. If everyone takes five organizations we can cover a lot of territory. I think a motorcyle club would be a nice addition as well.

I'll be gone much of the day (UCSB)so keep this post active with either bumps, progress report or ideas.

How about a banner that says "freerepublic.com - Ventura County Chapter".? or "Support the Troops and Support our Country"

Go crazy with the media contacts!! If you send me your e-mail I can send you a copy of the Freerepublic press release. It's nice because it presents our efforts as part of a nationwide program and give us a lot more credibility as a unified force. Also, when you talk to the media, let them know that you have been talking to other radio/TV stations because then they will feel like they might miss out on something if they don't send someone.

Be sure to post progress reports!

Well that would be great! Our men and women in the service need to see a show of support! They sure don't get those images from any civilian press.

I've emailed Fox 11 news desk...waiting for reply. I also spoke to someone at KCAL & CBS who is VERY interested! I emailed her the info about the rally on Sunday & the 23rd. I'll post when I have more info!

You are an awesome person! I just got word that Molly from The Star wants to talk to one of us. Go for coverage on the 23rd - that when we will have the biggest turn out. I'll send you her number. Also did you see the reference to the Washington Post in an earlier post from Mr. Sarcastic? Maybe the question to ask is why are we getting mentioned in the Washington Post yet we can't get any coverage here? That ought make the Star and The L.A. Times sit up and take notice. (and any other media types you happen to talk to)!

I am so confused! When are the rallies - one this Sunday and one the week after, on the 23rd? Someone please confirm. The teacher I talked to who was in the Star says there is one TOMORROW too! (which she is heading out to). Rabid, I will call you tomorrow about the flyers, or if you would just email me at maryemapa@hotmail.com, I can print them out. Thanks.
