A manager for the Country and Western group the Dixie Chicks is blaming the ongoing firestorm of negative reaction to anti-Bush comments by lead singer Natalie Maines last week on a vast right-wing cyber-conspiracy.
Dixie Chicks' manager Simon Renshaw has told radio stations currently boycotting the group's music that the uproar has been ginned up by the Web site FreeRepublic.com, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported Tuesday.
FreeRepublic has nicknamed the group, "The Blixie Chicks," after Saddam-friendly U.N. weapons inspector Hans Blix. Several posters to the cyber-forum have urged visitors to contact radio stations about the controversy.
"Your company is being targeted by a radical right-wing online forum," Renshaw complained in an e-mail distributed to radio stations by the Dixie Chicks' label, Sony Music. "You are being 'Freeped,' which is the code word for an organized e-mail/telephone effort attempting to solicit a desired response," he explained.
On March 10, lead Dixie Chick Maines told a London audience: "Just so you know, we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas."
After her remarks were reported, nationwide protests erupted in the U.S., with angry fans reportedly destroying their collections of Dixie Chicks CDs.
After four days Maines issued a semi-apology, saying her initial remarks had been "disrespectful."
"I feel that whoever holds that office should be treated with the utmost respect," she added.
But Maines' statement did little to assuage angry Country and Western music fans, who are predominantly conservative and pro-Bush.

Oh, puh-leeze. What gets me is that they were so out of touch with their fan base that they expected such a comment to go unnoticed.

I think we hit the big time when the picture of Dashale being hung over the balcony was mentioned on Rush's show.
That, I think, is the funniest picture this year.

How some of these people get contracts to record music in the first place is beyond me.
I like what Toby Kieth said when one of the Blixi's Hicks were making fun of his song " Courtesy of the Red, White, & Blue". One of them said "'Boot in your @$$', anyone could write that" His response was, "You couldn't". Apparently the Chicks don't write any of their own music.

didn't realize I belonged to so many Vast Conspiracies, but I still want my decoder ring and Secret Handshake, which have not yet been issued to me... You didn't get the ring yet? Check the mail today. And as for the Secret Handshake, it so very secret that even conspiracy members are not allowed to know it.

ATTENTION ALL FREEPERS!
The wolf cries at midnight, I repeat, the wolf cries at midnight.
You know what to do.
If you don't know what to do, see page 47 of the VRWC handbook.
To: kattracks
This cracks me up, because it's as if they can't believe that your average country music fan would be pissed about Maines said. They have convinced themselves that it's a mob or herd mentality and that "regular" people are not outraged, only the VRWC! LOL!

Thinking this over, it may be us who got the ball rolling on this by getting the story out, but the fact remains that their entire fan base is deeply offended.
IMO, this remark ought to offend the fans even more, apparently the Dixie Chicks want everyone to know that they consider their fans to be "radical right wing." IMO, the Dixie Chicks manager has decided to make public that the Dixie Chicks believe that those who cherish American traditions of freedom are somehow not worthy of consideratiion.
I thought previously that their remark was a stupid slip, now I see the group as being actively part of the Left, and therefore an enemy.
Now they really done made me mad.

One of them said "'Boot in your @$$', anyone could write that" His response was, "You couldn't".Great answer!

If this guy wants to demonize conservatives then he obviously knows nothing about the market for country music. If he picks a fight with us, he's just digging a deeper hole for his band. It's like the manager of a Rap artist going after the NAACP. His business sense is as stupid as Natalie's politics.

"You are being 'Freeped,' which is the code word for an organized e-mail/telephone effort attempting to solicit a desired response, Oh no! They figured out our code words!
This is series!
This could be hugh!

We're just the crest of the wave, the tip of the iceberg, the...You get the pictue.
I think it has more to do with a whole combo of conditions: talk radio, Fox News, The Washington Times (which proved a paper with an alternetive view could sell), the internet, and the great innovators Jim Robinson and his son.
These conditions have combined to let more and more people know that theirs are not isolated thoughts and that if you can't beat city hall well you damn straight try and change it.
Just as everyone is fed up with Hollywood and it's motly collection of pimps, whores of all sexes and persuasions, jesters and the perpetually righteous, people are growing tired of the smarmy, politician-as-celebrity, empty suited haircuts, liars and pimps, socialist cant and obstructionism for the children bullshit that emanates from the Democratic Party.
Remember that any publicity is good publicity. The more folks find out about FR the merrier.
Viva la Revolution!

The code word has been changed anyway, as has the color of the day and the confirmation sign.
The handshake remains the same.
