CNN STRIKES AGAIN And Strikes Out
BlueStarBase.org ^ | March 21, 2003 | Barbara Stanley

Posted on 03/22/2003 7:40:09 AM PST by EveningStar

Here I am, on pins and needles, candles lit and prayers a constant to bring our troops home safely after liberating the oppressed Iraqis and I find myself channel surfing to see what program has the least bottom scroll and best reporting. Having just switched from Foxnews, where the official comment was so far the war is going well, very well, as our forces move into Iraq, soften Baghdad for the big blitz (Shock and Awe). But then I move to WABC, and Peter Jennings is so-o-o- bummed-out and depressed I just can’t watch much and switch next to CNN, where that brow-knitted, pinch-faced Judy Woodruff is asking a reporter on the scene if the White House now considers this first strike a “dismal failure.” What? “Dismal failure” rings so loudly in my head, the utter contempt with which it was said by the propagandist Woodruff that I can’t really get out a good laugh when the reply comes back, “well, er, no.”

The network stations are reporting the liberation as though we were bringing the full force and might of the arrogant and bullying sole Superpower (as though we should be sharing that title with, say, France and the UN) on the ladies aid society, Baghdad annex. Invasion! They mewl. Tsk, tsk and tut, tut, tut. Their upset at actually having something in this administration start out so well must only be poisoned by the fact that that which they have been trumpeting, the Shock and Awe we have heard so much about, didn’t happen immediately! Not only are the liberal, propaganda media not known for their accuracy, but their patience takes a very close second.

Some Freepers' remarks about CNN's war coverage .

CNN hyping dead civilians is just their way of calling our soldiers "Baby Killers".

PUPPIES!! WHAT ABOUT THE PUPPIES!!!?

What about the kittens who died and the wittle puppy with the boo-boo on his wittle paw?

Awaiting reports on the environmental degradation caused by the strikes...

CNN Reports Baghdad Sea World was hit in the intial strike killing an endangered species, the gay whale.

Can we get any info on the baby seals? I shall light a candle, make a quilt, and visualize whirled peas.

Baghdad bombed...women and minorities hit hardest.

Forty missiles and only one child hit?!! We need to upgrade our baby-seeking guidance technology!

MSNBC has been trying to change with the addition of Savage and Joe Scarbourgh. At least they are trying to get it. Fox is still Red, White and Blue thank God.

You should have heard (Peter Jennings?) "break" that "news." He said it might become an ISSUE! OR atleast a SIDEBAR! His minions tried hard to make it so - at a Presidential news conference - but the American people weren't buying it - nor their snotty attitudes...

Wonder what they'll try next? :)

**Just wish FOX would have more info on some other units in the field, that s the only reason I surf, looking for more on the 101st**

I wondered about that too. Evidently, each network could have only so many embedded reporters. Fox News and Sky News have done a great job. Chris Kline (sp) of Sky News does have the info on the northern action, but it has been purposefully very vague.

Oh, just heard a new one. Why do they always say WAR advisors, rather than military advisors?

Saw Ollie North interviewing a Marine commander.......and he pointed out that he had been told point blank that the ONLY channel watched by our guys over there is Fox News Channel. Period.

Peter Jennings is so-o-o- bummed-out and depressed...

The lethargic Jennings looks and acts as though he has lost his best friend -- seeming as though he's ready to break down and cry...

It may very well be upon having to report the news that Saddam was seen carried away in a stretcher.

Isn't it time Jennings met Rather's same fate a few years back (What's the frequency, Kenneth?) and was given a few backhands?

I do a little surfing from time to time, but Fox is really the best. My only gripe is that they junk up the screen so bad there's very little actual picture left to watch.

They all junk up the screen. CNN & MSNBC both have reporters embedded with the 101st and my son is there so I try catch those reports

As a broadcaster myself, it's quite amusing and frankly embarassing to see my cousins at the networks so bummed because we are WINNING and there is NOT these huge losses of civilian life and loss of coalition forces like was predicted before the start of hostilities. Their demeanor would be quite the opposite if this was turning out to be harder than it's been so far. And THAT is twisted.

there was some talk a week or so ago that woodchuck was to be canned - and then they decided not to.

CNN has done some things well in the war coverage, but I cannot watch for more than a few minutes - hence I camp out on Fox and only go channel-surfing when Fox starts repeating all that we know.

CNN is a liberal mouthpiece of the dim party. It always has been and it always will be.

At the beginning of the war I watched Fox. I quickly switched to MSNBC because of the pictures and comprehensive coverage. Now I am watching CNN because they are covering the action. I hit the mute button a lot but I think they ar all over the place in the middle of the action.
