CNN STRIKES AGAIN And Strikes Out
BlueStarBase.org ^ | March 21, 2003 | Barbara Stanley

Here I am, on pins and needles, candles lit and prayers a constant to bring our troops home safely after liberating the oppressed Iraqis and I find myself channel surfing to see what program has the least bottom scroll and best reporting. Having just switched from Foxnews, where the official comment was so far the war is going well, very well, as our forces move into Iraq, soften Baghdad for the big blitz (Shock and Awe). But then I move to WABC, and Peter Jennings is so-o-o- bummed-out and depressed I just can’t watch much and switch next to CNN, where that brow-knitted, pinch-faced Judy Woodruff is asking a reporter on the scene if the White House now considers this first strike a “dismal failure.” What? “Dismal failure” rings so loudly in my head, the utter contempt with which it was said by the propagandist Woodruff that I can’t really get out a good laugh when the reply comes back, “well, er, no.”

The network stations are reporting the liberation as though we were bringing the full force and might of the arrogant and bullying sole Superpower (as though we should be sharing that title with, say, France and the UN) on the ladies aid society, Baghdad annex. Invasion! They mewl. Tsk, tsk and tut, tut, tut. Their upset at actually having something in this administration start out so well must only be poisoned by the fact that that which they have been trumpeting, the Shock and Awe we have heard so much about, didn’t happen immediately! Not only are the liberal, propaganda media not known for their accuracy, but their patience takes a very close second.

Fox either needs to drop the stupid banner or have the camera man put duct tape over the bottom 1/3 of the camera. I know what station I am watching and I know what time it is. What I do not know is what is going on under the banner. Pictures of grey sky do not get awards.

I've been going back and forth through cnn FOX, CNBC, MSNBC, etc.

FOX is OK. But since CNN had live video from a town that was attacking their convoy and everyone else had that night vision video of nothing happening that was 12 hours old...don't see how they failed.

Every other frickin story is about "opponents" to the war: protesters, other countries, parents of killed servicemen badmouthing Bush.

Late last night, Jennings interviewed by phone, an Iraqi who is one of Saddam's henchmen as a member of the Iraqi Parliment. Jennings asked him how things were in Baghdad after the bombing of the night before. The Iraqi proceeded to use his air time to spew lies about civilian deaths (he could not sleep because an old woman living next door dropped dead from the shock of the bombing) and he said we had no good reason to be attacking them. Jennings let him go on forever, spewing pro-Saddam propaganda. He did not challenge him once. He kept thanking the Iraqi liar over and over again for taking the time to be interviewed. After the Iraqi hung up, Jennings weaseled out by saying that he presented the propagandist as an example of an Iraqi who will not welcome us into Baghdad. When is Jennings going to be deported? Or better yet, strapped to a bomb and dropped on Baghdad.

What did the poor bomb do to you to deserve such a fate?

Aaron Brown said after the helo crashed in Kuwait that "Tony Blair will now have to rethink the British involvement." What a jerk!

NBC had some decent live footage of 4 Cobras running an attack against a little town. But since it was one of those video phones, it wasn't that great.

Agreed .........I hate all the graphics on the screen. I find myself switching from FOX when they show the same screen, nothing changing for what seems to be an eternity. MSNBC is 2nd choice.

CNN Stateside.... You should see what is broadcast throughout Europe. It is totally anti-American. If Americans want to know why Europeans are so whipped up against us, just find a Sat Dish and tune into CNN Europe. Aired from Britan with a slant towards anything anti-American, it is something that is considered the "Truth" by my European Collegues, they don't understand it is more entertainment than news, more propoganda than entainment. It just pisses me off to see that Ted Turner has found a venue to attack Republicans and Americans by extension with his "empire".

Someone here needs to start an Aaron Brown "truth alert" thread.

That guy is the absolute worst....why do the libs worry about a counter to talk radio when they have this guy on already.

He doesn't report...he just sits and editorializes incessantly against the U.S. Maybe he can go golfing with his friends in North Korea.

CNN would rather appeal to the likes of the fools on the streets of SF who are defecating and puking. Whatever..... Their loss.

Meanwhile, FNC is winning in the ratings, making CNN kinda like the UN: irrelevant.

Cheers, CC :)

Hey, I love to go over to CNN and MSNBC to hear their propaganda. In our area, we did not even have FOX until after 9/11 and I feel as if I have been liberated! I go back to those other channels to see how fortunate we are now. Thank you FOX News.

Petaaahh Jennings is the biggest (insert)on TV. I will NEVER forgive or forget the slimy way he trashed GWB on Sept. 11. I heard it myself, as ABC was the only station we were able to pick up at work that day.

I've surfed through the war coverage, and realized I would rather know NOTHING than hear their anti-USA spew.
