I watched something similar happen here during a protest. In the case here, however, while waiting to be arrested a protester moved in to the way of oncoming traffic (again) that was finally starting to move again after being stalled by protesters for at least a half hour. No charges were brought against the driver.

I wouldn't get arrested for some unwashed protester. Although Richard Bey was gloating over the fact that there were 100,000 anti-war and a 1,000 pro war people in NYC last weekend. GRRRR! I didn't go because I had schoolwork. The peaceniks have too much time on their hands. They don't go to church, don't go to school, and probably have questionable family values to be able to attend all these rallies. At least I've not heard of any violence at any pro-war rallies.

My point was, a lot of the protesters get hauled off without listing their charges. And Im not one of those people you are referring to.

I hope that law enforcement will be as diligent in charging those "peace-lovers" when they start beating people. And, they will be beating people.

>>But we're all much too intelligent and self-disciplined to fall into their trap.<<
Some of us are, some of us aren't. This is probably just the beginning. I have noticed, since about ten years ago, that people are taking sides in this country. It is no longer a few on the left, a few on the right, and everybody else waffling in the middle. The middle group is shrinking and that leaves the other two sides to start duking it out, figuratively speaking.
When I have been at marches where both sides are present, it has been a full time job breaking into arguments and telling "our guy" it's not worth it and he's only hurting us. It works best with a camcorder. You just point it and usually both sides calm down for fear of being caught on tape (I don't even press "record").
I have been waiting for something like this to happen. It's probably gonna get worse before it gets better. I think the protesters should be a little watchfull...

I don't understand the reference to giving the media ammo. If we are critiquing their writing skills, maybe they could critique ours? Or, are you suggesting that gallows humor at this point would be untasteful?

I do not condone his behavior in any way shape or form but will be interesting to compare his actions and the penalty compared to the anti war freaks who assualt our police officers and block traffic etc. Unfortunately, this guy will have the book thrown at him, while the miscreants in San Francisco may get off as part of a class action lawsuit. It was a stupid thing to do in what may have been a heat of the moment. But he as well as any other "mistakes" in the "heat of the moment" should face the consequences.

Free Republic is drawing attention from the big media, especially in light of the pro-Bush protests. The media may be lurking here and would love nothing better than to portray Free Republic as a site filled with crazy, ignorant, hate-mongers.
