A very astute observation......but we'd really be in trouble if we were only hurling insults.

Trying to hide a tank behind a house is like trying to hide an elephant behind a mouse.

Yep, "might as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb" is a cliche for a reason.

Reuters Headline: "British Troops Knock Out 20 Iraqi Peace Tanks."

Well, they already rode into battle on SUV's with mounted .50's against M-1 Abrams...

You're right. This is embarassing.
But not embarassing enough. I'd just as soon see them in old pre-WWII Italian M 13/40s. Slow, and no armor.

But not embarassing enough. I'd just as soon see them in old pre-WWII Italian M 13/40s. Slow, and no armor. They may as well be in those. From what I understand, the T-55's main gun is incapable of penetrating an M-1 Abrahm's armor. I also seem to recall some sort of major flaw with the routing of the fuel lines with one of the Soviet tank designs (T-55 or T-80) that essentially turns the tank into a fireball with a single hit near the base of the turret.

The regular Iraqi Army T-55s charged south towards 3 Commando Brigade on the Al Faw peninsula. That was a stupid move. Why not charge a bull with a rolled up newspaper.

Shame on us for using such tactics.
Shame is the only weapon the left has that can work against us. The turning of the vaunted American conscience against itself. It would do us well to remember that.

I had heard about that flaw in the T-55. I wonder if the Iraqis have gotten any upgrades . . .
But a big plus with the M 13/40 is that they probably couldn't find ammo anywhere for the 47mm gun . . . . they'd have to throw rocks at the Abrams, which would be fine with me.
. . . and since it was made by Fiat, they probably won't start and have a rust problem too. (You do know that Italian engineers invented rust, and licensed the process to Fiat?)
:-D My dad is a WWII combat vet, N. Africa and Italy, so I have heard a lot of stories about Italian arms and armor (especially their LMGs which apparently jammed if so much as a grain of sand got into the works, and since they were externally lubricated they were dirt magnets). He enjoys ragging on the Italians, but only on their vastly inferior materiel and leadership. He says that, man for man, they were very, very brave.
