NEW YORK (AP) -- A Columbia University professor told an anti-war gathering that he would like to see "a million Mogadishus" -- referring to the 1993 ambush in Somalia that killed 18 American servicemen.
At Wednesday night's "teach-in" on the Columbia campus, Nicholas De Genova also called for the defeat of U.S. forces in Iraq and said, "The only true heroes are those who find ways that help defeat the U.S. military." And he asserted that Americans who call themselves "patriots" are white supremacists.

"History professor Eric Foner" is an old-line Marxist agitator. The only thing he probably regrets is that this punk spoke out a little too openly.
Sorry to be addressing you, but it looks as if the moderator has eliminated the first post, so I guess you've inherited the job.

If a Columbia University professor said that he wished that a black civil rights leader would be murdered by the KKK, the professor would be fired in 2 minutes. His life would also be threatened by the "tolerant" Left. Why are Leftists allowed to spit in our faces with impunity?

thank you...sent this MOGADISHUS MORON THE FOLLOWING EMAIL:
NICHOLAS PAUL DE GENOVA
Concerning your statement -- "I personally would like to see a million Mogadishus" . What kind of human being are you , that you would like to see the death of anyone in the American Military. If you do not like this Country, and those that defend your right to express such sentiment, why don't you go live in Mogadishus. You are not fit to wipe the boots of one of our Military.
What is with calling our Military ..white supremacist? You do not sound smart enough to be teaching at any University in this Countryor even one in Mogadishus. You should spend some time with the military, and notice the makeup of our soliders. Obviously, you have not reached the "mountain top" yet.
You are a stupid idiot, and what a shame that one American has to sit in your class room and listen to your dribble.

I freeped! As an educator for 32 years, I took him to task about the responsibilty of the educator. The young mind is too idealistic and vulnerable to hear such rubbish. An educator has no right to speak as he did in public, in the classroom or anywhere else in a public venue. Obviously this person has another agenda. He leans so far left that the scale is tilted. He deserves to have his little knuckles rapped by the university and other appalled Americans. I'd like to see him "removed" from the staff.
To: shadeaud
History professor Eric Foner, who helped organize the teach-in and spoke after De Genova, said Friday, "I disagreed strongly and I said so. If I had known what he was going to say I would have been reluctant to have him speak." I believe Foner is a Communist. He admits he was raised in a "Communist-oriented" family.
To: shadeaud
Somebody please let the Professor know that I can't get him a million Mogadishus but I wouldn't mind making him the main attraction and central figure of one more.

Yes, and the communist know this. They just don't consider it rubbish. To them, it is the key to victory.
I was only 14 when the Communist took over Cuba, but I remember their first priority was to take control of the education system. I think the same was true in Nicaragua.
Kids from age 5 were given wooden guns and taught to hate America. It takes just a few years to indoctrinate a young mind.
From my observation, they worked their way into the US education system in the late 60s, and it has been downhill from then.
Public schools and the University community have become a cesspool of hate America.
It is so sad that parents have yet to see what is happening, and they still send their kids off to these centers of leftist indoctrination.

I am constantly surprised by the restraint of the American conservative. Wish that I could share in that restraint. If I find myself within range of this scumbag, well, let's just say that I hope that he kissed his mother goodby earlier in the day. Enough is enough. I've taken an oath to support and defend the Constitution against ALL enemies, foreign and domestic. If this POS does not count as a domestic enemy, THEN NOTHING DOES...

Good points. Arafat did the same thing on the West Bank. Under his direction, the eductional system put into place a doctrine of hate into the school system, including the textbooks.
The left has been in bed with Muslims for decades--they were in bed with the Nazis in World War II. What many people forget is that Nazism and Fascism are simply forms of socialism. And socialism is Marxism, which has in its foundations anti-semitism, along with anti-capitalism of course. No wonder the left doesn't want us in Iraq--they support the socialist Ba'ath party.
Just tonight on TV I heard Muslim Americans in Detroit decrying the war in Iraq because "Muslims" should not fight other Muslims. This is dangerous thinking. People who put their religion above their country cannot and will not be loyal to America.
Anyone who is moderate or conservative must refuse to contribute any money at all to Universities or colleges which employ professors who preach hatred against the USA.
And with the public school system, parents must get involved and demand a curriculum and staff that is not a fifth column attack on America.
God Help us. Its not too late. But the clock is ticking.

There were like 500 or more people of Mogadishus killed in this incident. Is this professor calling for the deaths of 500+ million black people? Has Jesse or Al heard about this?

Prof De Genova's comments are worse than presented here. He equates patriotism with genocide and white nationalism.

There will be a pro-war rally at Columbia on Wednesday at 12:15. The location is Low Plaza, which is 116th street between Amsterdam and Broadway It is open to students from around the metropolitan area.
The CU College Republicans, Columbia College Conservative Club, and Students United for America are sponsoring the rally.

Here is what one student had to say about him:
"I lost all respect for this man as an academic when he said this spring that Jews no longer have any claim to the heritage of the Holocaust because of Israeli policy towards Palestinians. While at first this seems like a personal attack on my part, it is an academic criticism, and here`s why. Professors are responsible for taking ideas and analyzing them, cutting them down to their roots and components, no matter how simple those ideas are at the surface. De Genova does the reverse: he takes the Mideast Conflict, a sophisticated topic by any standards (even those outspoken Palestinian advocates like Professor Massad) and simplifies it by comparing Israeli policy to Nazi policy. Furthermore, he does so despite the fact that he is not an expert in this area, but rather in Latin American studies. In my view, that makes de Genova an irresponsible and unsophisticated academic. I won`t take his classes now, but not because I don`t like him or even because I disagree with him, but because I don`t trust him to give me a complete, fully-analyzed picture of the issues."

Excellent point. Some other college is having it's federal tax dollars audited and threatened by Congress because a teacher is teaching a porn class with pictures of children's privates. Maybe Congress should take up Columbia's federal funding.
Which congresscritter should we tap for the job? Seems the way the silent majority is buffeting around the peace movement, there should be no shortage of polititians on all sides looking to jump on board.
Damn, where is Bob Barr when we need him?

http://www.columbiaspectator.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2003/03/27/3e82ec7193097?in_archive=1 Thanks for the link. This De Genova guy is beyond despicable. Here is an excerpt from the article, the link to which you posted, for those who may not take the trouble to click on the link:
Excerpt:
"One of the most divisive issue among the participants was patriotism. An exchange over the subject was sparked by Nicholas DeGenova, a professor of anthropology who was a last-minute addition to the program.
"Peace is not patriotic," DeGenova began. "Peace is subversive, because peace anticipates a very different world than the one in which we live--a world where the U.S. would have no place."
"U.S. patriotism is inseparable from imperial warfare and white supremacy," he said. "U.S. flags are the emblem of the invading war machine in Iraq today. They are the emblem of the occupying power. The only true heroes are those who find ways that help defeat the U.S. military."
Between DeGenova's condemnation of patriotism and his call for "fragging"--"I wish," he said, "for a million Mogadishus"--his speech provoked many of the professors who spoke later in the night to assert their disagreement."
