I can't believe it. C-span is airing programming from Iraqi state television. Excuse me, but can someone tell me why we are spending public funds (our tax dollars) airing enemy propaganda during a time of war? (By the way,the portion aired included more than just the Arnett interview.)
We need to Freep C-span and let them know we don't want that trash on our airwaves.

I just checked, and they are taking calls, running a poll, and asking people to comment on their support for the war. I didn't see Iraqi tv on the air.

I can't believe it either. I can't believe that Iraqi state TV is still on, regardless of C-SPAN. WTF?
To: freedom4me
We are also spending tax money trying to get them off the air...ironic?

I like C-span. It was enjoyable to watch the Estrada filibuster live. I don't mind paying my nickel. :)

From
cspan.org -
C-SPAN is a private, non-profit company, created in 1979 by the cable television industry as a public service. Our mission is to provide public access to the political process. C-SPAN receives no government funding; operations are funded by fees paid by cable and satellite affiliates who carry C-SPAN programming.

Sorry, I was mistaken about the funding part. But I'm still livid about airing the enemy's propaganda during a time of war. It's off the air now, but earlier the Arnett interview was aired and the programming just continued.

Odd. I guess CBC's The National wasn't sufficiently anti-American to balance C-Span.
For the life of me, I can't think of anything to the
far right on C-Span that needs balancing out, though.

I'm not sure I agree with the sentiments here. The revulsion you feel might be shared by non FR types who stumble on this.

C-SPAN shows a variety items including foreign news broadcasts when appropriate. Within this variety are going to be things you will not like such as their coverage of anti-war rallies from start to finish. No doubt the liberal C-SPAN junkies are no more fond of conservative events such as the Media Research Center's Dishonor Awards Ceremony that also air in their entirety.
Specifically to the point about Iraqi TV, sure it's propaganda, but it's no worse than showing a news conference of the Iraqi Ambassador to the UN, or, come to think of it, the French Ambassador. My feeling is that they're showing it as part of the current event of the day, not as a daily feature.
Now I would have an issue if it were a daily feature because of the nature of Iraqi TV, but I don't think there's much harm in one or two showings. In fact, I actually think it may open one or two minds to watch the Iraqis call the sky pink polka dot instead of blue. On the other hand, the caller from South Carolina this morning into one of C-SPAN's open phone line shows who claimed Saddam is a legitimate President because he was elected by his people while W is not because he was selected, would agree that the sky is pink polka dot. Worse yet, I'm sure she formed her opinion by watching our media, not theirs.
