Last evening, ABC's "The Practice" started out with a good story line about a young black drug dealer being arrested in a shooting. As the program progressed, ABC managed to squeeze in several "below the belt" punches toward Attorney General John Ashcroft and the Bush Administration. Actual news conference clips were used, showing Ashcroft in a press conference referring to capital punishment in federal cases. Several references were made by the defense team to a "Republican vs. Democrat" scenario.
TOPICS: Business/Economy; Constitution/Conservatism; Crime/Corruption; Culture/Society; Government; News/Current Events; Philosophy; Politics/Elections
KEYWORDS: ashcroft; bush; deathpenalty
Is this the new method of free political advertising by the Democratic Party? Is anyone else as outraged as I am? I wish I had videotaped the program, so I could gather a list of all the sponsors. I can only remember Sears and H&R Block.

Didn't even realize this show was on the air any longer. It was moved to Monday nights where it suffer a slow, and well deserved, death.

I also saw the clip for the next episode of "Judging Amy". Something about an evil couple smoking in a restaurant, Amy asks them to stop, they tell her no, she flips out.
"Law & Order" (NBC) has gotten pretty bad with the Liberal Agenda as well. It used to be one of my favorite shows, but now the bias is so blatant, it's sickening.

Its well written though the outcome is misleading. In real life its the good guys, the prosecutors who usually win.

Okay, Freepers, we need phone numbers and email addresses. We should not sit quietly by while these shows belittle all our military is fighting for.

I watched this show once a couple of years ago. It's a big shock to me that ABC would produce and air a Left-leaning program!
My solution has been to watch FOX News and rent or buy videos for our family to watch.
To: TommyDale
Never watched the show. I find something unrealisistic about a show that has lawyers (especially prosecutors) for heroes. I've noticed there are alot of Attorney sitcom's and drama programs in the evening lineup. I guess they got tired of all the lawyer jokes and are trying to put a good light on their profession.
Good luck.

Yes, The Practice is still on, though I stopped watching after their 9/11-related episode about the Muslim (voluntary) detainee. There's only so much politically correct moaning I can take.
Unfortunately, I can't seem to stop watching DEK's other currently running show, Boston Public...
Because I'm in love with Anthony Heald- he is by far the most talented member of the cast. I wish he could run away to a better program.
...and they are doing an awful storyline about the MCAS that makes me feel like flying to LA and knocking a few skulls together. Tests are tools, not the instruments of Satan.

I actually like the show, however it is like looking at a train wreck, everyone of the lawyers have the morals of gant's butt (I cheer for the good guys, even though they lose too much). So, using amoral people as their spokespersons never seems to bother me all that much. They are just preaching to the choir.
Trying to prevent the kid from getting executed by blaming AG means that he is doing a good job, made me feel good. I am glad he figured out a loophole to protect society. : )
I hope he gets on more liberal shows (it means we are winning!).

Camyrn Manheim is a leftist fat pig.

Never watch this program. I hope it goes in the toliet.
To: TommyDale
I happen to see that last night. It was a clear hit at the current administration. They were saying that Ashcroft was trying to take cases away from the state when the DOJ thought the death penalty was justified and the state did not have a death penalty.
Later in the show, the lead character who has always seemed to be a prety straight guy starts to have an affair. Basically because his wife was not paying enough attention to him. Besides, he has a hot blonde after him. So, if your wife is ont paying attention to you and you have a hot blonde after you it's OK to have an affair according to ABC. Even if you have kids. ABC knows that ejaculation is much more important than some kid.
The Practice has been interesting at times. But, it's just play acting and not real. Too bad the people at ABC forgot that.
To: TommyDale
My wife likes that show, so I sometimes watch in an attempt to humor her. Last night, as usual, I left the room before it was halfway over. The show is just a platform for rabid liberal writers to inject their ideoligy into the minds of unsuspecting viewers. I stopped watching ER for the same reason. It seems like every week, an innocent child is shot by an out of control gun.
Truth is, I hardly watch anything on the networks. I get by just fine with FNC and Simpsons re-runs.
To: Extremely Extreme Extremist
I prefer to say simply that Camyrn Manheim is a leftist pig --as are many other actors. "Fat" really has nothing to do with it.
BTW, everyone, it's a David Kelley show, so I'm certainly not surprised by any leftist storyline drivel he might cook up.

On the other hand I found I liked the first season of NYPD Blue despite the salty language and explicit sex. Nothing you wouldn't see in an R-rated movie and I was hooked since the acting and the story was unbelievably good. On DVD it just got better.

Ho-hum, the headline should read, "Dog bites Man." What does one expect? I am astounded that this many FReepers watch this crap. And I am REALLY astounded that this many admit to it.

Yes, I too watch NYPD Blue. I also watch Law & Order, even though I agree with those here who complain of its leftist & "politically correct" slant. I particularly hate it when the ADA's are agonizing over some "moral dilemma" they have when their boss orders them to prosecute someone in a way they don't like. Hey, if you don't like your job, leave it.

But don't be too astounded. The TV in the kitchen does not have a conenction to the sat dish. I just had the darn thing on. I was listening to Michael Savage and Freeping at the same time. Besides doing several other things......

Almost every TV show exposes the ideals of the left. The best way to deal with this is to turn off your TV. Live a little yourself not thru TV characters.
To: TommyDale
An ABC television show espousing left wing ideology? Now there's a freakin' surprise. </sarcasm>
To: TommyDale
South Park and The Simpsons are about the only shows worth watching.
Although my son and I are really into 24.
K. Sutherland does a nice job with that show.

Just got this from my very LIBERAL aunt, even she is beginning to see the light.......Liberal Press release: The Pope is visiting DC and President Bush takes him out for an afternoon on the Potomac sailing on the presidential yacht. They're admiring the sights when, all of a sudden, the Pope's hat (zucchetto) blows off his head and out into the water. Secret service guys start to launch a boat, but Bush waves them off, saying "Wait, wait. I'll take care of this. Don't worry."
Bush then steps off the yacht onto the surface of the water and walks out to the Holy Father's little hat, bends over and picks it up, then walks back to the yacht and climbs aboard. He hands the hat to the Pope amid stunned silence.
The next morning, the Washington Post carries a story, with front page photos, of the event. The banner headline is "BUSH CAN'T SWIM!"
To: isthisnickcool
Yeah, I shouldn't have been astounded. Heck, I'm addicted to Trading Spaces. With the exception of Natalie Maines having been on there last year, there are not any politics, however.

I saw it and it will be the last time I ever watch the show. The plot went out in left field to attack the Ascroft and the Republicans. It was to link to the snipers in DC and the Federal government taking over the case to get the death penality. It streached the truth so far it was sickening. It is just another left wing piece of crap.

Actually, these liberal claptrap shows don't turn me off at all. First, I like my beliefs challenged. Second, these shows actually present the best arguments their side can produce, at least better than the average liberal on the street. I listen to their side very carefully, it helps me win arguments with the left in a very calm calculating way, because I know where they are coming from.
To: TommyDale
I saw that! Could not believe what they did. Rarely ever watch that show; I shall certainly never watch again. I still can't believe they actually used real video of AG Ashcroft. I think they made a very BIG mistake and that there will be repercussions for the show and sponsors.
Sorry, but I don't remember any sponsors.

They had a similar swipe at Ashcroft last week when a judge made a gratuitous statement about the constitutionality of detaining someone ....I decided last week was the last one for me.
Seems as if, with "The Practice", the plot lines and talent get thinner as LAura Flynn Boyle's lips get thicker ( yech! ).

I stopped watching ER when they started in with the AIDS privacy thing, and just lost interest. I liked the whole dynamic between the English doctor and Eriq Lasalle. They recently had them split up reputedly because of a letter writing campaign by the "terry macmillian" brigade. History repeating itself. Also, I remember watching the pilot of The Practice some years ago and saying to myself, poor a$$ liberal lawyers? BORING. Bring back LA Law. I've never watched Boston Public, or anything other politically incendiary show. Although I did want to know if the cop's husband finds out she had an abortion (Third Watch).
Television is overrated. I watch TV once a week now.

The Practice is one of the most ignorant and unrealistic shows on television where every defendant is innocent and a subject of a government-sponsored frame-up. I cannot believe that any self-respecting freeper would even watch it.

Those lips need a wide angle shot to keep them in frame. She needs to enlarge lower. Then we can have a poll for when she falls forward.

I watched it and, I, too, was p***ed off! That used to be my favorite show, but I just finished emailing abc that I will never again watch it. They blatantly said [sic]"if the Clinton administration was in, this would not be a death penalty issue." My response was basically, yeah, because Clinton didn't like the law, thought the law never pertained to him and the word "responsibility" was removed from his dictionary. He broke the law with arrogance, his oath of office to the country and the Constitution. I got in a few barbs about Peter Jennings, too. Said at least NBC was responsible (a word Clinton's administration hated) enough to fire a newsman when he crossed the line. The Practice, ABC news, CBS news, The West Wing.....phooey! I'll take reruns on Nick at Night or the Game Show network any day to those biased clowns.

I believe it is so. The campaign finance law that was passed last year prohibits political ads 60 days before election day. Primetime sitcoms are the RATS' way of getting around the law.
