Here is the Garofalo
QUOTE:
Comedian Janeane Garofalo explains that Hollywood didn't protest the Clinton military ventures because "it wasn't very hip." By Hollywood standards, what was "hip" when Mr. Clinton did it, gets a negative flip when Mr. Bush does it.

Well it's good to know that she's using the war effort to maintain her sense of hip-ness. Someone please pass her the lyposuction machine...for her mouth.

I've tried watching Maher twice. Unlike Dennis Miller, a far better and more intelligent host, Maher has clearly stacked his audience with far left wing people. Even Larry Miller hardly says a thing. When Dennis Miller was on a few weeks back, the audience booed him because he agreed with the war It's filmed in LA so one would expect a liberal crowd. Caught the taping on 3/28. There were 2 yippies in front of us who got really pissed when we booed Michael Moore(even though we were told explicitly not to by the studio people) and when we cheered Maher's comment about getting over the 2000 election. But when my roommate and I discussed policy issues dealing with the war it went right over their heads. It was kind of fun to sit in obvious enemy territory and let my feelings be known.

"That's what all you right-wing radio hosts do. You make shit up all the time...." No, Janeane, it's your writers that do that.

What is helpful is that whenever semi-educated pseudo-intellectuals like Garafalo appear in public they actually undermine the anti-war people.
I personally don't take issue with people who, after examining the arguments, remain anti-war. But people as venemously anti-Republican or caustic as she just bug me.

Here is Garofalo's full quote:
It just wasn't very hip to protest Clinton's... (sic) unitlateral actions and bombing in Yugoslavia without UN approval.

hasn't this squat, tubby moron learned to keep her trap shut? oh, i'm sorry.... she's "cultured & worldly." she wears black-framed glasses and turtlenecks. she MUST be smarter than the rest of us.
you know, she and Maher deserve each other. they're both arrogant beyond belief, completely absorbed in their own anti-establishment drivel, and, well, to be frank, ugly as hell. had to be said.

I've heard her and others like her on many occasions and, at first blush, they seem so eager and civilized and thus somewhat persuasive: who, really, is in favour of Warfare?
But to Garofalo and others, I would (and have) said: ok, what do YOU propose? How would YOU deal with the likes of SH? And when they trot out their usual responses, it is a simple thing to say: sorry, tried that, didn't work; sorry tried that, didn't work. Etc. Etc.
The truth of the matter is that Garofalo and others do not like the world that we actually live in and the steps that civilized people have to take in order to create a world of order and peace. What they have in their heads is a fantasy land where people just get along because, well, just because . . .

Garofalo whined about Iraq as the victim of the U.S.: I would say a pre-emptive, unprovoked strike is not fair. This is a pre-emptive strike. It was not provoked. That is not fair. So what about 9/11? Was it provoked or pre-emptive? If provoked, and we were attacked, then we have the right to strike back. If pre-emptive, then her argument collapses much like the carotid arteries feeding her alleged brain did long ago.
And what the hell is this "hooking up" diatribe all about? Who goes and talks about their favorite Fox newsperson? What if it was Juan Williams? What does she do then? "Really stupid people." It is a guaranteed fact that when a liberal has nothing useful to contribute to a discussion, or has run out of arguments in a debate, the namecalling begins. It is usually about 2 minutes into their screed. I'll bet she was really challenged by Maher, LOL!!
Liberalism truly is a mental disease. They should name it Garafalo's syndrome or something. Talk about delusional!
To: Paul Atreides
That set off Garofalo: That one guy that had that one sign( We Support Our Troops...When They Shoot Their Officers.) that you'll probably beat into the ground. You're going to use it over and over whether it actually existed or not. That's what all you right-wing radio hosts do. You make shit up all the time. Uh Ms. Garofolo, it wasn't made up. It looks like the American people have wised up about the shit that you have been pushing.
