GRANVILLE - The 21st century will mark a shift from so-called conventional terrorism like Sept. 11, 2001, to biological terrorism.
That's the feeling of one of the world's foremost biological weapons experts, Dr. Kenneth Alibeck, a Russian scientist who helped develop the world's strongest strain of anthrax before he defected to the United States in 1992.

The feckless policy of containment for terrorist supporting nations didn't work with the clinton hit and miss application and it will not work in the future. That's why pre-emptive deterrence and/or regime change must be employed. There is no other choice that I've been able to determine could work, because terrorist networks must have a sponsoring haven from which to launch and train.

Not that I don't think this is entirely possible, but while I read this first couple of paragraphs I couldn't help but think of the old adage 'when all you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail'. I imagine other articles like this:
'The 21st century will mark a shift from conventional weapons to nuclear weapons' says a top nuclear scientist.
'The 21st century will mark a shift from conventional weapons to mind weapons' says a top psychologist.
'The 21st century will see most deaths caused by fish' says a top icthyologist.
Frankly, all of these possibilities concern me.

Meanwhile some other Freepers were discussing the fact that Kim Jong Il of No. Korea has been in "seclussion" for over 45 days now. China for some reason has decided to cut off oil and other crucial supplies it was shipping to No Korea. China, has also totally cut off any access to the region where this virus has allegedly hit the hardest and blocked WHO from further research in the area. None of this bodes well and looks very suspicious.
One could definately suspect No. Korea would want to inflict something like this. What do they care about their people or anyone elses? China and No. Korea would embrace such weapons because if half their populations suddenly dropped dead, they'd consider it a blessing. That's just the nature of such inhuman bastards.

Heck the WHO and CDC are having a hard time handling SARS how are they going to handle a "real" bio attack?

Dr. Kenneth Alibeck, a Russian scientist who helped develop the world's strongest strain of anthrax before he defected to the United States in 1992. "I know how al-Qaida and other terrorist groups work," Alibeck said. "They work hard just to develop biological weapons. They understand that biologicals will put our country on its knees.
It's just a little 'thing', but this man deserves a good, old-fashioned pat on the back. It just tickles me that he defected from Russia, and calls the USA 'our country'.

I personally am a great beliver in "the rich man's nuke", namely, nukes.
Suppose the United States were to announce that if bioweapons were proven to be used against our native citizenry, every arab capital would be nuked..and for good measure, including Mecca and Medina?
Of course, we would have to have the guts to follow through on such a threat. Could make them think twice.

Of course, our accepting this premise would also make Dr. Kenneth powerful and influential.
Not that he couldn't re right, but he could also be self-serving, as are many scientists.

But to make matters worse, he said, so far the government has placed the emphasis on the wrong solution - vaccinations instead of prevention. One of the best "preventions" is to root out the terrorists and their State sponsors before they have a chance to do anything.
The Iraq War is a crucial step in this solution. But, it is just a first step. As President Bush said, this will take years.
