Anymouse: Flyer didn't announce the specific address on the threads per my request. The meeting is at my residence, and I don't want the address made public since liberals lurk on FR and our H.A.T. board.
If you plan on attending, let either myself or Flyer know. We will be happy to e-mail/Freepmail directions.

I fully understand your reluctance at advertising your home
address on FR for all of the nutballs to pay you a visit, but it would have been helpful for Flyer to indicate who would be the host and in what general part of the Houston area the meeting would be located at. If for no other reason than for people to plan their Saturday around the long journey out to the West side. I'm sure that had the meeting been arranged to be way down this side of Houston you folks would have wanted to know ahead of time.
As great as it is to have a FReeper open their home up to this roudy bunch, when you have a meeting at a public place you can advertise it to all potential members without screening them first. We want to encourage lurkers to join up and be active, not wonder if they get the secret handshake correct. :) The more transparent that a chapter's meetings are the easier it is to gain new members (and retain old ones.)
This isn't a knock against you or flyer, just a general concern of mine that this situation helps me illustrate how we can tend to hobble our organizational effectiveness without realizing it. Sorry about making this into the proverbial mountain out of a mole hill. /rant

Anymouse...What do YOU care...you never show up any way..."central" public location or NOT! Keep your "personal observations" about the chapter to yourself...
BTW: it is ROWDY...not roudy.
Petroni...I'll be in Galveston Saturday and Sunday...taking a glass blowing class...I'll guess I'll soon find out if I am truly full of enough "hot air"!
HA!!! I guess I'll catch up with you folks and show you my "works of art" so you can all lie and tell me how "wonderful" they are...Tee hee heee...
Howdy to all HAT Freepers!
I see GREAT gun range weather in the weekends to come...my trigger finger getting itchy again...
Humble... you ever get your rifle sight fixed (or should I really ask...did you EVER read the instructions and install it properly??? LOL!!!)
COB have you seen Eaker's new rifle...great toys...wonderful toys...

When is the next opportunity for us to lie to you about the
"works of glass"?

We had the December 2002 meeting at my place, so some members already know the location. We usually have them at a public place, but due to the anticipated number of topics, there was a need for a more private location. Since no-one else with a "central" location volunteered, I stepped in.
There has been considerable discussion lately regarding "public" vs. "private" locations for meetings. Since we have had numerous Freeps lately and more events in the works, there are still plenty of opportunities for "public" appearances. The majority felt we needed a place where some chapter business can be more easily accomplished.

AV, it appears that Eaker and I both will have new toys to show off at the next shoot.
I'm going down today and complete the buy for a new Barrett .50 caliber with a 10 X 56 scope.
Reckon you're
man woman enough to shoot it?
LOL!
Seriously, I won't be at the meeting, but I'm working on setting up a shoot with some out-of-town people.
If you want to participate, drop me an e-mail:

Fair enough. Like I said, my rant wasn't directed at this particular decision or venue, just pointing out the problem with not being able to publically announce the location.
I'm sure it is a common problem for many other FReeper chapters have had to contend with as well, so I figured I would throw it out for discussion.

.50 Calibre....hmmmm might bring the "Old One" with me...he may very well have to check this toy out too!
Well as for being woman enough...well all I can say is I am CURIOUS enough to want to shoot it...may NOT be smart enough to know better!
LOL!!!

I got twenty rounds of 750 grain ammo to sight the scope in.......that is if my shoulder can take it!
That darn stuff is $3.50 per round!
I've got 300 rounds of 650 grain ball ammo that will be here in about a week at $1.50 apiece.
I can see that if you shot this thing a lot the price of the gun would be cheap compared to the cost of the rounds!

I had the thread contents revised to reflect updated information. I had put in a request for it to be changed yesterday. Maybe your wheel squeaked louder.

No, I had already sold mine to be able to pay out, so they trusted my count.

I had put in a request for it to be changed yesterday. Maybe your wheel squeaked louder. I asked the right person, in the right way at the right time. The Admin Moderator have been on heavy amounts of ZOT duty today, so I asked for the Big Kahuna.
