[Marine Corps] Task Force Tarawa visits residents of Al Shomali

AL SHOMALI, Iraq(April 7, 2003) -- The Marines of Task Force Tarawa visited the town of Al Shomali, Iraq to help the residents rebuild an elementary school that had been occupied by local members of Saddam Hussein's Ba'ath Party.

The Camp Lejuene, N.C., leathernecks, deployed in support of the I Marine Expeditionary Force during Operation Iraqi Freedom, were greeted by the smiling, waving people they had liberated from a brutal Iraqi regime.

How much do you want to bet that the new military of a free Iraq will include a Marine Corps? So many other nations that have been liberated (in part) by Marines have chosen to honor them by adding a similar branch.

Here's the only online info I could find:

There are also Marine Corps in the Phillipines, Edcuador (recently participated in joint exercises with our Marines), San Marino, and other countries I can't regurgitate from memory.

I'd recommend finding a book in the library about special forces around the world. I have one by Argo, I believe, that covers most of them.
