An absolutely fantastic interview with one of the smartest people on the planet.
I really hope everyone hears this part loud and clear:
I think it is a great mistake to believe that, now this war will soon be over, we must launch some initiative in respect to the Israelis and the Palestinians in a way that suggests we have done damage in the Arab world and now we need to repair that damage by some act of contrition in support of the peace process. There are very good reasons for supporting the peace process but contrition is not one of them. The sense that we somehow owe this to the Arab world only diminishes the essential truth about what weve done in Iraq. We have not damaged Arab interests. We have advanced them by freeing 25 million people from this brutal dictatorship.

Withdraw from the UN. Kick it out of NYC.
Invite other peace-loving nations to join us in a new organization more in sync with reality.

"It is not a living constitution like the American constitution, interpreted to reflect the times."
People that think and espouse that the constitution is a living document and can be interpretated to reflect the times are one of our major problems!

Interesting.
As one wmember of the USA street, rage against France is undeniable and deep. Empathy and good wishes for normal Iraqi citizens, not of Husseins Baath pary, are generally taken for granted.
And we are not pacified yet.
Syria and Saudi Arabia must not go unpunished...
It appears peace in the middle east may be theoretically possible after all.

I've been following Perle for some time. I have always thought he was one of the brightest ans toughest men in government. He and Rumsfeld make a good team.

And yet there has been no change to the charter of the United Nations since it was founded. It is not a living constitution like the American constitution, interpreted to reflect the times. Good read, on the whole . . . Big mistake - the US constitution is not a living, fluid document. The only ones that I know of that believe this are Clinton appointed judges and the dims, et al. Another waste of time - the UN. The only reason the dims want us to use the UN is because it makes us "world citizens." I'm a US citizen, thank you. Isn't it scary - the UN is essentially the dims with a pick-up army. The reason we can have 3 week wars is because of this present administration. The reason the so called "Arab street" is dismayed at the total rout of Sadams forces is because we took the gloves off - something that "world citizens" will never do. Look at UN fiascos like - the Korean "police action" - a draw. Had we taken this on as a US war we would have pummeled the communist-backed Koreans on our way to Beijing to expound our ideas a little further. Any time the USA has to play by the UN rule book we are less than Americans and we end up having to police something later. The big stick theory still works.

"Someone asked me the other day, "Whos going to rebuild everything thats been destroyed?" I replied by asking, "Should we begin by rebuilding the headquarters of the secret police?" We destroyed essentially military installations and command and control facilities. "Touché, to use an embargoed phrase.
