French's Mustard Company Release:

Posted on 04/13/2003 7:09:29 PM PDT by 30-06 Springfield

The makers of French's mustard recently released this statement:

We at French's Mustard wish to put an end to statements that have been made that our product is manufactured in France. There is no relationship, nor has there ever been a relationship between our mustard and the country of France. Indeed, our mustard is manufactured in Rochester, New York.

The only thing we have in common is that we are both yellow.

Priceless. Perhaps a name change is in the offing?

Guess they don't sell much of their mustard in France...

The only French product I used was Dijon mustard. Luckily, I've found some American companies that make excellent Dijon...

Of course this is a joke. We know it didn't come from French's because French's left Rochester many years ago. Along with most of the other manufacturing companies that have left New York over the past 20 years, thanks to our outrageous taxes and anti-business climate.

Now French's mustard is made near Springfield, Missouri. It's still a long way from France.

This is not the wording that they used. But, when the war broke out, the ad in the Washington Post read: "We may be Yellow, but we are not French! French's Mustard is all American!"

The "offical" press release was worded this way: "For the record, French's would like to say, there is nothing more American than French's mustard, R.T. French Co., a Reckitt Benckiser precursor, introduced its "cream salad mustard," alongside the hot dog, in 1904 at the St. Louis World's Fair."

Years ago French's Mustard factory relocated near our dairy farm in Springfield, MO. They made a wonderful neighbor. On the days they manufactured spices, the air was filled with the smell of nutmeg!

Luckily, I've found some American companies that make excellent Dijon...

Gold's dijon mustard (made in Hempstead, Long Island) is good.

I've been buying it for a long time, just to (figuratively) rub their Frenchy anti-semitic noses in it.
