Gephardt milks his father’s union job (Dickie's Little Lie Just Mentioned On Rush)
The Hill ^ | April 30, 2003 | Bill Thomsas

Posted on 04/30/2003 10:24:32 AM PDT by PJ-Comix

Presidential candidate Rep. Richard Gephardt (D-Mo.) likes to tell audiences that his father drove a milk truck.

“He was a Teamster,” Gephardt said in a speech last January to kick off his campaign in Iowa. Gephardt’s father, Louis, who died in 1984, had a variety of jobs, among them selling real estate and life insurance. Even so, his nine years on a milk route have given Gephardt the most mileage with organized labor.

But according to Gephardt’s brother, Don, their father hated driving a milk truck. “My father was in the Teamsters, but that’s because he had to be to get the job,” he told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

“I don’t recall him talking much about the union, how great it was. He prided himself on being a Republican. He hated Harry Truman. He had the feeling you had to make it on your own, that any kind of welfare program would just raise taxes.”

“He told me every time … we were at the dinner table that we had food on the table and clothes on our back because he was represented by a union that could bargain and get him fair wages for his work.”

That was a Red Flag as to Gephardt's lie. Nobody's father tells his kids "every time" they are at the dinner table about union collective bargaining. Anyway, this was just discussed on Rush.

What is so stupid about Gephardt's whopper is that he claimed his Dad talked about his union's collective bargaining EVERY TIME they sat down to dinner. Hey, Dickie, if you're going to tell a lie then at least make it slightly believable.

A little worse than Gore being rocked to sleep as a baby to the tune of "Look for the union label" huh?

I don't know why this portion of the article didn't appear in the post but here is Gephardt's whopper:

“He told me every time … we were at the dinner table that we had food on the table and clothes on our back because he was represented by a union that could bargain and get him fair wages for his work.”

Gephardt's brother Don, might spell 'doom' for little Dick, what with the TRUTH finding its way into the fray.

Republican father! Whoa.

Here is the full story from "The Hill." For some reason it didn't all show up in my original post:

Presidential candidate Rep. Richard Gephardt (D-Mo.) likes to tell audiences that his father drove a milk truck.

“He was a Teamster,” Gephardt said in a speech last January to kick off his campaign in Iowa. “He told me every time … we were at the dinner table that we had food on the table and clothes on our back because he was represented by a union that could bargain and get him fair wages for his work.”

Every dang night at dinner, my Dad always said, "By the time LBJ gets all the money I earn, I don't know what we'll eat?" I told my kids, "These damn Clintons are going to break the economy with their back turning routine." It's funny how similar these stories are to Dickies heart warming tale.

Another rat beaten senseless with the 3 legged stool of The Net, Talk Radio and FOXtv. One by one, the rats will learn that you can't lie anymore - just too many ways to get the truth.

Lord, we thank you for our family, the food we are about to share, and for a union that has collective bargaining.

Amen.

Wonder if his dad whispered,
"So, always look for,
the union label..." as little Dick went off to sleep.
