THIS WEDNESDAY, MAY 14, CONTACT YOUR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS TO DEFEAT THE BUSH TAX GIVEAWAY

Dear (Name Removed),

"Democracy can work, particularly when a lot of people get on the phone or by email, and just let them know what's on your mind." -- George W. Bush, 5/5/03

President Bush has ordered his most loyal and partisan supporters to contact their Senators and Representatives in Congress to pressure them to pass his irresponsible tax giveaway.

It's time to fight back.

The Democratic Party is partnering with MoveOn.org, People for the American Way, Campaign for America's Future, and dozens of other groups representing millions of Americans to organize a massive public mobilization. On Wednesday, May 14, join us by calling and emailing your representatives in Congress to let them know that the majority of Americans oppose more irresponsible tax cuts that go overwhelmingly to the wealthiest sliver of Americans.

Next week, we'll send you details on how you can use Democrats.org to contact your Representatives and Senators to tell them that it's time to pass a genuine stimulus plan instead of the irresponsible Bush tax giveaway.

SPEAKING OF GENUINE STIMULUS PLANS...

Senate Democrats introduced a plan to get the sluggish Bush economy moving again. The plan includes targeted tax breaks, help for small businesses, desperately needed aid for state and local governments, and help to laid-off workers.

It provides the immediate stimulus our economy needs at a fraction of the cost of Bush's ineffective scheme.

SUPREME COURT COUNTDOWN: UPDATE

Friday, May 9, marks exactly two years since Bush first nominated some of his most extremist judges to the federal courts, and Democrats continue to protect American values by standing up to right-wing nominees.

THE RIGHT-WING EXTREMIST NOMINEES CONTINUE. President Bush has nominated career extremist Carolyn Kuhl for a lifetime appointment to the powerful 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Kuhl, a former official in Reagan's Justice Department, has a long record of opposing reproductive rights, civil rights, and environmental protections:

* She supported tax breaks for Bob Jones University despite its ban on interracial dating, a position opposed by 200 of her colleagues. * She wrote what a former Solicitor General called "the most aggressive memo" advocating the reversal of Roe vs. Wade in a case before the Supreme Court. * Prominent environmental groups, in a letter to Senators, have warned that Kuhl's record on environmental protections puts Americans at risk.

REPUBLICANS TRY TO SUBVERT THE CONSTITUTION FOR BUSH'S NOMINEES. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-UT) has threatened to subvert the Constitution and end the Senate's "advise and consent" role in order to ram Bush's ultraconservative extremist nominees through.

If they're willing to subvert the Constitution to push through nominees to lifetime appointments on the federal bench, just imagine what they'll do when it comes time to fight for Bush's right-wing nominees to the Supreme Court.

If the Democrats or Republicans could get over their childish squabbling in Congress they would see the advantages of both tax cut plans.

The Dems claim that their plan would create 5 times the new jobs than the Republican plan and cost much less.

OK. bring it on.

I propose implementing both plans simultaneously!

Is there no member of Congress with any common sense to propose the same thing??

The DemonRat "tax plan" is a complete sham. They target the bottom end of the taxpayers (since that's their voting base) with some trinkets and baubles. Whoopee.

Those taxpayers aren't the ones buying capital goods, machine tools, etc. The President's plan addresses the needs of the people who ACTUALLY HIRE OTHER EMPLOYEES instead of trying to appease the masses with a paltry sum of money back that the Gov't took away to start with. The Rats know that their plan is just another small dose of medicine that treats the symptom - not the disease - and that their dose would run out before the elections.

ONCE AGAIN, THE DEMONRATS SHOW THAT WINNING ELECTIONS IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN DOING WHAT IS RIGHT FOR THE NATION. THEY ARE A DISGRACE, AND THE TRUE ENEMIES OF THE REPUBLIC.

It doesn't get much better than when the enemy is taking their marching orders straight from OUR leader.

Seems to me that the Dems are the ones wanting to give all my hard earned money away...in a "Tax giveaway"!! Bush wants to have a earnings "Keep away" ---from Democratic money grabbers! Let me keep my own money! It is not the government's money.... It is the people's money.

I think it is time the people decide what to do with it! I think we need a referendum making the salaries and benefits of the legislators dependant on what the People want!

Just like those who earn the tax dollars, I think those who live off of those dollars should have answer to those who they work for. They should have to depend on the people they work for, for their salaries and benefits. If they do a good job, they should get a raise. In tough times, just like the rest of us, they should face cutbacks...cuts in their benefits....If they miss votes...they don't get paid! They get fined for not doing their job. We send them there to represent us...they instead represent themselves and their own person political future.

Their salaries should be set by the public, not themselves.

To paint with the broadest brush in an effort to cut through the many mischaracterizations by McAwful, here is a precise (though not 100% applicable) difference in Dems and Pubbies. The democrat party has gone so far over to the socialist societal engineering 'darkside' in their efforts to encompass as many interest groups as they can (like homosexuals and abortion champions), they have become a radical socialist scheme where the central authority will collect form everyone the maximum they can pass into law, then dole it out to the interest groups siding with the democrat party. The Pubby's socialism form takes the shape of throwing more and more money at social programs already on the books, in their effort to appear to be extending the 'safety net'. National politics has become an exercise in voting to prevent the socialist structure you most dislike from coming to power, with no legitimate alternative to a socialist system 'out there to be voted on'. Why? ... Because parties like the Constitutional Party talk a good line, but until an alternative party goes to work at the grassroots level and gets elected from aldermen to congressmen to senators, the fist of the big two will hold tight the reins of federal powewr.

Yes it is tragic that Democrats are willing to flush our economy for their politcal gain in 2004 Elections.
President Bush's plan is tried and proven, it is what
made the economy stronger as Ex Pervert of United States came in to office to defile the White House.
I have been watching polls on this issue on Liberal News Media and I think they are false.
The more these liberals lie, even voting democrats have to see what their party is doing ?

Let me get this straight...the Demoncraps for years under Bill Clinton said RAISING TAXES was necessary and it didn't hurt the economy.

Now they are saying we need TAX CUTS to stimulate the economy.

Which is it??? Were they lying then, or are they lying now????

How stupid can people be, and how wonderful that the lapdog media doesn't note and report this flip-flop.
