If Hedges has been shell-shocked from one too many wars (despite never doing any fighting or taking a bullet) and now cannot resist injecting his opinion into his reporting on the subject, he should be moved into editorial. He has no business doing straight news. But of course, the New York Times has been exposed as the equivalent of the National Enquirer so I suppose anything goes.

In which case, the knuckleheads who invited him should have done their homework instead of unplugging the guy's mike. How contemptible. How stupid. Chris Hedges has not hidden his dislike for war. His position could easily be discovered if not already known. Of course we'll never know, but I think Mr. Pribbenow knew exactly what he was getting, and may feel the same way Hedges does but did not get the response from a college crowd he expected. Based on this paragraph below I think he was wanting to stir the pot but got burned:
"She turned to Pribbenow and asked him why he was letting the speech continue. He said it was freedom of speech. Pribbenow later said when people stop listening to ideas, even controversial ones, it is the death of institutions like 157-year-old Rockford College."

"We ARE making progress -- and at the college level even!"
And thats after just 2 years of the current administration. As it stands now, looks like we're gonna have 6 more years.
6 years from now, hopefully, these liberal speakers will be out of fashion as commencement speakers.

I'm sorry for the Rockford graduates who had to listen to that idiot rant instead of commemorating their accomplishment. I'm glad they had more sense than the Tugaloo (?) graduates who went wild with applause when another primate, Ben Cohen, stole the show.

I don't want to download it either, but dixiechick2000 posted a transcript of it over
here.
To: hellinahandcart
thanks! I actually found the transcript not long after I posted it. It would be fun to hear the boos and the guy interrupting him though. LOL!
