I am Catholic and he has my vote. Time to start praying that JPII becomes a saint and this man takes over. Our church is falling apart by lacking family values. The Cleveland website with the Gay ministry, takes the cake. I feel this man will right the wrongs that have been done.

Amen to the good Cardinal...what is really sad is that those those have apparently devoted their lives to the faith don't believe in its very teachings...how could anyone ordained to the priesthood object to the statements made by the Cardinal.

He's one of the best for the job. He will be criticized by rigid traditionalists because of his ecumenism, otherwise he has no liabilities I can see.

What is interesting is that he took the topic of inter-faith relations and, in essence, said look to your own conduct and values.

If he had went into values equal in the various religions or other coequal type remarks, today's nominalists would have stood up and cheered. But, when asked to consider our own values, they take it as an insult to their "situational ethics."

What they might not have got is the implication that Muslims agree with HIM on these matters and are little impressed by all the "Abrahamic" crap they hear from Christians trying to suck up to them. Yeah, Muslims use this jargon, but for this it is simply a matter of gaining rhgetorical equality with the Christian majority in this country, and they know that liberals have as little respect for Christianity as they do.

Over time, I think this has has been the case, although if you look at Pius XII and Paul VI, these two were favored going and were elected.

John XXIII, John Paul I, and John Paul II were total surprises.
