This makes news because we are paying attention.

Islam's barbarism towards infidels has been going on for a very long time.

With no diminishing meant of this little girl's suffering, the exact same thing is planned to occur in the diplomatic world.

The rape was committed in the name of Islam. It was condoned, perhaps even encouraged by an Islamic society. One simple questions cuts throw a lot of BS-is a Muslim in the US treated better or worse than a Christian in Pakistan or some other Islamic country? Does that difference reflect on either society or either religion?

When Christians encourage crimes such as this, I will condemn them too. We throw rapists in jail every day; that's a very important difference between the moral equivalency of the two religions. In one it is a detestable crime regardless of the victim's faith; in the other a mitigating factor that may absolve the perpetrator of any guilt. Is that OK with you?

While no one can change the crimes of the past; we can and should draw conclusions from comparisons of today.

Hard line Muslim clerics object because Muhammed married a 9 year old girl. Traditionally Muslims marry a girl as soon has she has her first menstrual period, so if she menstruates early, she can be married early.

Not that I agree with this at all, just observing that not just Muslim men want to have sex with underaged girls, but our religion and culture doesn't allow it, and theirs does.

I have seen thirteen year old girls who looked incredibly mature, but never a nine year old. Still, every so often one does read of a very, very young girl who is pregnant. As a woman, I think it's weird - I feel zero attraction to pubescent boys.
