The United States expects Iran to surrender major Al Qaeda insurgents believed connected to the suicide strikes in Saudi Arabia last month.
US Officials said that the Bush Administration has obtained assurances that Teheran will arrest and extradite Al Qaeda insurgents in Iran.
The officials said that Iran could extradite at least one Al Qaeda suspect to Saudi Arabia over the next few weeks.
Officials said that the United States has exerted heavy pressure on Iran to surrender and unspecified number of Al Qaeda operatives.
They said that Washington has relayed intelligence information to Teheran that identifies Al Qaeda members in Iran connected to the May 12 suicide attacks in Riyad.
The insurgents were said to include the son of Osama Bin Laden as well as Seif Al Adel, regarded as the new military chief of Al Qaeda.

Amazing what the fear of god - dressed up in a decisive shock and awe campaign - can do for cooperation.

OK, so who thinks that someone in the administration dropped the veiled threats and innuendo, and flat out told the Mullahs what would happen if they continued to play this game?

That's the last we'll see of him. Sharia law won't permit the Saudi's to let us interrogate him...much less to imprison him.
Better to keep him in Iran, come beat down the country and then take him.

The mullahs had a choice of scenarios:
Scneario 1: Hand over the al-Qaeda scumbags in their country.
Scenario 2: The 509th comes and delivers some serious candygrams.

"...........Iran could extradite at least one Al Qaeda suspect to Saudi Arabia over the next few weeks..........." I'm NOT impressed.
I am NOT happy.
I am NOT partying.
This SHOULD read.....
"...........Iran WILL extradite ALL Al Qaeda suspects to the UNITED STATES immediately..........."
.........or be prepared to be destroyed.

OK, so who thinks that someone in the administration dropped the veiled threats and innuendo, and flat out told the Mullahs what would happen if they continued to play this game? I think this administration has been doing this all along. Why else would Pakistan have become such a willing "ally" when we went into Afghanistan, and why would the Saudis start making public statements against Saddam when we were in there (after trying to bolster him)? I think the Prez does it right by not letting them think they can keep getting away with it.

The Saudis have never liked Saddam or Bin Laden.
But the Sauds have been more than willing to finance Al Qaeda and give them both good press in hopes of preserving the status quo.
