Here is the winning campaign ad for the pubbies nationwide;

Ben Chandler said his party must establish "a theme of helping people: the average citizen, the average Kentucky family."

It is this "little guy" approach that has brought victory for the KY "democracy" in 1971, 1975, 1979, 1983, 1987, 1991, 1995, and 1999. By implication in KY, if the Democrats are FOR the "little guy," then the GOP must be for the "rich people." So why does one think 2003 will be different with the grandson of Albert Benjamin "Happy" Chandler heading the Demo slate? I guess it could depend on turnout: if the GOP turns out at twice the rate of the Democrats, Fletcher might win.

I thought Bush carried Kentucky in 2000. Is that wrong? If a Republican can win the majority of votes in that state for any office, there is hope.

I believe you are correct. He also carried W VA. which totally caught the RATs by surprise. Now if only New England would join the rest of the country and start moving Right. No signs of that happening I'm afraid.

Miller allowed that "the Democratic Party might not be the party for every state in this country. But in a state like Kentucky, where more families are in lower and middle incomes, this should be a Democratic state."

That's their line, and it is powerful, but the truth is just the opposite, even at the state level, lower and middle income people benefit more from conservative themes, like right to work laws, friendly tax structure for business, etc.

When the person who signs your check is the declared enemy of your government, you suffer.

Can it be that people are waking up to this truth?

I just noticed that the 1919, 1943, and 1967 GOP gubernatorial victories in KY are all 24 years apart! So at that rate the GOP should have won the KY governorship 12 years ago! Do you think the GOP will have to wait another 12 years -- 2015?

The bottom line is that the democrats will pay big time for their anti-war stance. Bet on it. They know it, but the press can't bring themselves to admit it.
