Nine Illegal Aliens Arrested [working construction. No American were willing work perhaps?]

Nine illegal aliens have been arrested while working on the New Hampton Inn project in East Aurora.

Investigative Reporter Luke Moretti tell us the Building Trades Council blew the case open.

Buffalo Building Trades Council President Daniel Boody said, "All in the name of greed."

Greed, say these top area union leaders, comes in the form of illegal aliens found working on the Hampton Inn Hotel project in East Aurora.

Last month, nine undocumented workers from Mexico were busted by immigration officers.

"Approximately eight guys getting out of the van."

The case got rolling after the Buffalo Building Trades Council was tipped off.

Daniel Boody said, "...complaints by non-union construction workers that are layed off that thought they would be working here for that employer."

The project developer is Paul Bandrowski. Union officials say not only did Bandrowski have illegal aliens working on the seven million dollar, eighty room hotel project, they stayed at a residence he owns on Main Street.

Mike Barczys of Carpenters Local #9 said, "...hard for a guy and for a superintendent of that caliber to not know that on his site when he walks through nine illegal aleins are working there."

But Bandrowski tells us a sub-contractor handled the work detail and temporary housing. He denies having any knowledge of the situation.

Question: You don't have any knowledge of that at all? Aurora Ventures Chairman Paul Bandrowski said, "None at all. We would never condone it. We as a company make sure that every contractors we have, with every sub-contractor says that everybody has to be legal to work in the United States."

An immigration spokesman from Vermont tells me that nine illegal aliens were arrested on May 23rd. Eight have since been deported back to Mexico. One remains in the United States because of a criminal history.

Despite the labor setback, work continues on the East Aurora Hampton Inn, scheduled to open this summer.

"Let's be honest. Americans- even those who are out of work, are far too prideful to go work in the fields for minimum wage. Heck, you can barely get people to work at MacDonald's. But if you take all the folks on welfare, put them to work in these lower-end jobs, there will be no need for illegals. "

If they are out of work because they won't take a job at minimum wage then they deserve to be poor. I live in a college town so even McDonald's has no trouble finding help. Just about any minimum wage job is filled by a college student or a high school kid. Most of the fast food restaurants here actually pay a bit more than minimum wage. Last I looked, starting pay was over $7.00/h. Wal-mart and grocery stores are the minimum wage places and are also filled with students. The only fields easy to find work in are the hard labor types. Construction jobs are almost always open but are really only for men. Around here it would suck to be a mother in need of a job with only a high school diploma.

The only problem with that is that your workers would be wholly incompetent and unable to do the work. They would literally starve before they became profecient at even such a menial job as floor sweeping. Just showing up to work ... let alone on time ... is BEYOND them.

Amen! Besides, the way it has always worked, you start out in a minimum wage position, you do the best job you can, then you get promoted or you get a better job, using the first job as experience and reference. Americans have always worked at places like McDonald's, picking crops, or whatever. Americans did those jobs before the illegal invasion, they are doing them now in the few places where the invasion is not yet happening, and they would do them again if they had to.

Oh I agree! The problem is, until our government stops fostering dependency, this will never end.

They would literally starve before they became profecient at even such a menial job as floor sweeping.

Not if it was their only way of feeding themselves and putting a roof over their heads. Reduce their options to starving in the streets or sweeping - my bet is they'll learn to sweep.

Just showing up to work ... let alone on time ... is BEYOND them.

It is beyond them now, but that's only because they don't have to. They have 2 choices: 1. show up for work or 2. sit home, play Nintendo, and suck on the government teat. Reduce their choices to sweep or starve and I guarantee they will show up for work on time.

"My point in these posts has been that Americans have NO IDEA how much they depend on wetback labor. Not even so called informed FReepers. If the 'deport em all now' crowd suddenly got their wish ... our economy would grind to a halt faster than if half the oil tankers on the sea were suddenly sunk.

The answer? It's about as easy as going back to the original constitution where only land holders could vote. (something I advocate by the way). Then the problem would be fixed. Only then. Of course it would have to be only male land owners as most women are liberals. (sorry FReeper girls it's just a fact)"

So uhm, am I breaking rules by telling this guy to go to hell? Can you back up your "most women are liberals" claim with a reputable source? The stats I see just about anywhere say that most black voters vote democrat so you don't want black landowners voting either? I've never seen a stat on which party women usually vote for but I would never advocate excluding any group from voting just because they don't vote for the party I like. I don't see any reason to exlude any legal citizen of the US to vote. And I totally disagree with your assumption that sending the illegals back home would put a halt to our economy. Most of them send as much of their pay back home to mexico to their families as they can so their spending habits don't really help us. I really don't like your 'white male=good illegals=good everyone else=bad' ideas. Another donkey in an elephant suit? You know that makes you a fat ass, right?

Your reading comprehension is not too good is it? You see one phrase you don't like and stop thinking ... that is assuming you can think at all. Try READING the words and pondering a bit.

Let me help you out with a real generalization. "The problem is that EVERYBODY but you has it wrong".

Now ILLEGALS are not doing anything to support our economy. I think you are generalizing by thinking that every Hispanic you see is illegal. Though illegals are increasing in number and in many places out of hand. Most of the people you see working are here legally. The Illegals from any source need to be rounded up and sent home PERIOD.

As far as voting goes, I'd support voting being the RESPONSIBILTY of TAXPAYING citizens and the members of their HOUSEHOLD over 21. Landownership takes us back to the dark ages (1960's). I justify this position by the thought that, If I'm not paying taxes why should I be allowed to pick the people who spend them. But this will never happen because a Dimocrap couldn't get elected.

So send the illegals home now. And don't say most women are liberal, of all the women I know there is one liberal and she's originally from Canada. Thanks.

I worked for BellSouth for 20 years and I still work in communications so I see and talk to a lot of people every day. Many people myself included thought the "soccer moms" were a permanent Dim vote block. It was a temporary swing. "Stay at home moms" unlike soccer moms are extremely conservative by nature as a whole. The choice to raise your kids and sacrifice material wealth provided sometimes by two incomes is a noble decision. Many soccer moms would be stay at home moms if the other income was good enough. Of course I know I'm borderline on generalizing but I think the facts bear out what I've said. If the facts don't agree with my statement, the facts are just wrong.

One word: Soccermom.
I did not say all ... just most. Too many women think with their emotions. The very definition of the useful idiot voter manipulated by the Left. Of course there are brilliant conservative women ... just not enough of them. The Founding Fathers knew what they were doing when they allowed only landowners to vote. They were well out of the Dark Ages.

NOPE.... Landowner only voting is too far back. Soccer is a word and Mom is a word, put them together if you like, it's a free country if you own land. The founding fathers permitted slavery. Er you fer a brangin it back? Well er ya? Wake up a litle bit there are things a happenin all around you.

The asleep exist on every thread. They are amusing. I like the ones who think that "Oh yeah?" is a framed argument that I'm expected to debate.. I tend to go POOOOOOOOOOOOOOT at them.

I'll be absent tomorrow, I'm taking a long weekend to enjoy the damn rain. May check in at night from home.
