I would bet my hat that 90% of all foundations poured in San Antonio, Texas have Illegals working at some point. We have to ride our fence lines about every three days. The Illegals have got so bad at cutting our fences instead of climbing over. They have cell phones to keep in contact with their rides. It is so stupid for this to happen. If people really don't care for them being here then we need to register them, pay them a decent wage, and withold taxes. At least we would know who was here. The way it is most any crook can cross to the US through Mexico.

It's interesting here because we have a very high population of people from Mexico --25% and about 50% are born to people from Mexico --not many Americans (hispanic or otherwise), many have obtained legal residency or were amnestied ---but we've got almost double digit unemployment ---mostly it's people from Mexico who live in the projects and collect welfare ----and ironically illegals can still find jobs around here. It seems something changes very quickly with the Mexicans once they're given amnesty or legality ----they no longer need to work the fields when it's 105 degrees, they can lay around and watch their novelas all day in an air conditioned government housing project.

Exactly my point. Seems the American dream has become to let the government take care of you, rather than you taking care of yourself. And again, we are all paying for it.

It does depend on how we measure wealth. If having a television in every room and every video game made, a credit card debt of $15,000, dinner out every night, a 5 year car loan on two cars, and a 30 year mortgage makes you wealthy, then yes we're better now. If paying off a home in 15 years, owning a car that you pay for in 2 years, very little credit card debt, a comfortable life with no debt on one income, nutritious home-cooked meals, then they were better off.

Yep, we have 3 TVs, 3 VCRs, 2 DVD players, 2 good computers and a few old ones (one set up for 2 yr old to play on so he leaves ours alone), and I don't ever cook. That of course is WHY we are always broke. If we lived the way people use to live, we'd have a lot of money in the bank. As it is, it's paycheck to paycheck.

I agree totally. I do like to know where these terms originate though. So do you know where the word "spick" (can't spell it and don't think i've ever even said it before) comes from? I heard a new one from a stand up comic on Comedy Central recently. Coconut. Apparently it's well educated 3rd generation Mexicans who have no accent left. Brown on the outside, white on the inside. The guy was hilarious talking about how his spanish teacher told him the first day of class that since he was hispanic he was expected to get an A in the class. He wanted to know why white American kids weren't expected to get an A in English with that logic. Wish I could remember his name. I love stand up comedians, especially the ones who make fun of racial attitudes in the US.

You're funny. I will use any word I feel like using when the situtation is appropriate. If someone does something stupid like being a dimocRAT, or illegal like a wetback, I'll use any word that applies. Obviously you do not understand this ... but it's a free country you poser.
