Now if only the INS would visit my local 7-11 around noon, they could pick up a boat-load of them.

I go there daily to get my copy of the Washington Times and there are truckloads of them buying their lunch. Landscape, construction, you name it.

You obviously don't live here in California.

(East side, West side, all around the town. Tripping the light fantastic on the sidewalks of New York)>>>>>>>

Love your 'tag line' (w/small changes). My late mother's FAVORITE song, as she grew up in Brooklyn in the late 1930's thru the 50's. She LOVED NYC, and I'm sure she 'rolled over' more than once on 9-11. I still have some cousins in Jersey, one lost her "best friend", her boyfriend for years, on 9-11.

I also spent several of my 'teen' years in beautiful southern CA. I take it very PERSONAL that our gov't has allowed two of our most beautiful and prominent cites be invaded (and NYC ATTACKED) to the point they seem like 'foreign countries'. This due to the FACT that gov't has apparently decided they are free to choose which laws they want to enforce.

Read today where our 'new & improved' INS (DHS ?) caught a few ILLEGALS, but then immediately 'set them free' after they *promised* they would leave the USA with-in 30 days......what a joke.

Don't hold your breath.........seems our "new & improved" INS will run a criminal check on you 'boat-load', and they will actually DETAIN any who have warrants outstanding,
the rest will be 'set free' if they *promise* to leave the USA with-in 30 days. (Read about this happening in Indiana, today, I believe.)

link to catch & release story......oops! looks like ILLEGALS
have to sign an 'agreement'(promise) to leave the USA within
30 days, before they are set free.

hmmm...no list of any US laws CITIZENS are now allowed to
break, and then 'set free' on a promise not to do it again.

ILLEGAL POEM
I cross ocean, poor and broke,
Take bus, see employment folk.

Nice man treat me good in there,
Say I need to see welfare.

Welfare say, "You come no more,
We send cash right to your door."

Welfare checks, they make you wealthy,
Medicaid it keep you healthy!

By and by, I got plenty money,
Thanks to you, American dummy.

Write to friends in motherland,
Tell them 'come fast as you can.'

They come in turbans and Ford trucks,
I buy big house with welfare bucks.

They come here, we live together,
More welfare checks, it gets better!

Fourteen families, they moving in,
But neighbor's patience wearing thin.

Finally, white guy moves away,
Now I buy his house, and then I say,

"Find more aliens for house to rent."
And in the yard I put a tent.

Send for family they just trash,
But they, too, draw the welfare cash!

Everything is very good,
And soon we own the neighborhood.

We have hobby -- it's called breeding,
Welfare pay for baby feeding.

Kids need dentist? Wife need pills?
We get free! We got no bills!

American crazy! He pay all year,
To keep welfare running here.

We think America darn good place!
Too darn good for the white man race.

If they no like us, they can scram,
Got lots of room in Pakistan.

They are our slaves. We all benefit immensly from
their peonage in EVERY aspect of our daily lives.

That is the purest form of Bravo Sierra I have read today.
You must have forgotten the sarcasm tag...
Otherwise, put down the crack pipe and step away from the keyboard.

To be fair, I think it shouldn't be only illegals who get deported, I think their employers and welfare office providers should also be deported. If someone believes they should have cheap labor ---they should have it but they should have it back in Mexico ---- then they can live with the consequences of the type of society they help create.

Illegal Irish immigrants have been working on construction sites in New York City for years. One reason is that the contractor gets a superior product in addition to cost savings -- the training system for tradesmen in Ireland is so outstanding that the same guy who does carpentry work from Monday through Wednesday can also do electrical work on Thursday and plumbing on Friday.

See, that's my point, illegal immigration will continue as long as there is demand for cheap labor and greedy business, politicians, media, and others support it.

You darn right......as most of the 'big illegal stories' ALWAYS seem to have a 'green card holder/naturalized citizen' driving the car/truck. These people should serve any jail time they have coming, then be deported, NEVER to return to the USA.(ALL family members included). I don't know that we could deport any 'citizen' welfare worker, but charged w/aiding & abetting ILLEGALS, but this crime should carry about 10 years jail time.

Employers should be FINED big time (as our laws state) PLUS auto jail time. You'd think our gov't would realize ALL the tax dollars they're losing from these ILLEGAL EMPLOYERS.

I noticed our very COSTLY HDS has now turned out former (ENEPT) INS dept. into, equally ENEPT BICE.....however even with their multi-MILLION dollar budget, BICE still CONTINUES with the old 'catch & release' program for illegals.....only difference illegals must now sign a paper *promising* to leave the USA within 30 days. Looks like BICE blew their budget on these "promise papers". (and maybe even that's not anything 'new')

Didn't "marine inspector" tell us that mexicans (only) get 15 chances at crossing the border before ANY charges get filed ??? Who came up with this ??

Ilegal Irish are not walking/swimming the Atlantic by the thousands every year, I'm sure most are here on expired visas.

After the 1993 WTC bombing our gov't *said* bills would be passed to set up an "entry-exit" system on US visas, since some of THOSE terrorists were here on expired visas. Well, AFTER our electeds filled their PORK plates, I guess, they decided we didn't need this *costly* system. So these bills got buried, never put into law, no "system" in place.

Soooo.....in 2001, we have our 9-11 Terrorists (some) roaming the USA freely, again on expired visas. Because terrorists (just like our ILLEGALS) have all our 'loopholes' figured out, and they take advantage of ALL of them.

A year-and half since 9-11, 10 yrs. since the first WTC bombing, and I doubt we have an up & running "entry-exit" system YET. Maybe we need to put someone from Blockbuster Video's in charge of our visa's.....:o)

That pretty much sums it all up, doesn't it?

Though I would add one more thing -- much of the underlying demand for cheap labor comes from American consumers!

In the words of one economist (it may have been Thomas Sowell): "The real heart of the issue is that nobody is willing to pay what they themselves would charge for their labor."

When you think about it, that is absolutely correct.

Pssstttttt.... INS there were 50 men standing around on the corner of Chimney Rock & Westpark (Houston) today, waiting for day jobs. I'll bet there weren't 10 greencards in the bunch. Here is another tip..... they will be there again tomorrow.

ALL of it comes from American consumers. (mercy's reply)>>>>>>>>>>

Funny all the 'illegal immigration' polls I've seen it's ALWAYS 70-90% against illegals, and most Americans want them ALL deported.....American's have figured out that 'cheap illegal labor' is costing us MEGA tax-dollars as well as AMERICAN jobs, even our ENGLISH language.

Still waiting for your list "all the benefits" you CLAIM that illegals are heaping on "middle class Americans", who are taxed 'til death to pay for gov't FREEBIES for the illegals.

Any idea's on how to stop the legals & illegals from setting up their little 'service businesses' within our community (and many other places) that thereby CHEAT American businesses out of customers & revenue, and local gov't out of property taxes, school taxes, sales taxes, etc. that LEGAL businesses HAVE to pay ??

I've even seen women peddling 'tamales' on our streets, think they have health permits, or vendors licenses ??

The savings from the labor isn't being passed on to the consumers anyway. Houses in California certainly aren't cheaper than those houses built in other areas where Americans build them. I've seen lettuce sell for over $1 a head, milk sometimes is over $3/ gal. Someone might be getting very wealthy but food isn't cheaper now than it was in the 70's.

You are making two common mistakes here -- 1) by assuming that the cost of labor is the only factor in the price of a product or service, and 2) by neglecting the impact of inflation on the price of a product or service.

In the case of home prices, there are a number of major factors that have driven them up dramatically -- the higher cost of land, the additional permits to build, and the higher demand due to population growth. If you were to take that same $450,000 new home in a metropolitan area in California and construct it instead in the middle of Nebraska, you'd be amazed how cheap it would be (especially if it were built with Mexican labor).

As far as lettuce is concerned, there is an inherent price instability for almost any agricultural commodity, due to variations from one year to the next in crop yield, weather, etc. Beyond that, the prices of many agricultural commodities (milk being one of them) are set at artificially high levels due to government interference in the market.

But regardless of these causes of seemingly high prices, I would wager that when you take the impact of inflation into account, the vast majority of products and services are cheaper today than they were in the 1970s.
