BOYCOTT APPLEBEE'S - It is anti-gun!

Folks, here is the next K-Mart. According to a poster on The High Road (the successor to The Firing Line), Applebee's in San Antonio, Texas has a policy of excluding those legally carrying a concealed handgun (which is its right to do, and my right to disagree with). Here's the thread on THR:

By the way, I also sent a letter to Frank DeAngelo at AppleJam, Inc., which is the franchisee for the San Antonio area, expressing my displeasure. His email is frank@applejaminc.com Here is the text of my letter, which I freely give anyone permission to copy or cut and paste from.

Dear Mr. DeAngelo:

I and my family have gladly patronized Applebee's for years here in Texas, since we enjoy both your food and the friendly atmosphere. I am also a holder of a Concealed Handgun License (CHL). It has recently come to my attention that all of your restaurants have posted notices that patrons LEGALLY carrying concealed handguns are not allowed on the premises.

Until you change your policy regarding legally armed customers, neither I nor any member of my family will be patronizing Applebees restaurants. You should understand that over 225,000 Texans, all potential customers, have gone to the trouble of obtaining a CHL (including both a state and FBI background check and a training course) and are NOT criminals. Most of them have families, and all of them have friends. Do you merely assume that we are gun-toting members of some drug gang? Or maybe you view us all as a bunch of beer-swilling, irresponsible rednecks with guns? It is insulting, to say the least, to live with such implications, and I will not continue to reward Applebee's with my patronage until your corporate policy changes.

A word of warning: Millions of people nationwide have the legal authority to carry handguns - do you want to lose all of these potential customers to your competition? Do you superiors know that you're treating a VERY large block of your customers like this? I hope that you are aware that there is now a move to publicize your policy among various gun-related Internet boards - you are about to lose a LOT of business due to a BOYCOTT. Ask K-Mart's executives how they liked being boycotted by gun owners (those that are still employed, that is).

I urge all of you to boycott Applebee's, and to post this information to other gun-related boards - I can't stand anti-gun bigotry, especially from businesses that want my money. Hit them where it hurts!

Hard for me to boycott that which I already avoid. The only way I'd eat at that trough is at the point of a gun.

I would go there to eat, and "accidentally" let someone see the concealed gun. Then when they kick you out, you get a free meal.

The cops can't arrest you for violating some stupid Appelbee's rule.

I think Appelbee's is nasty anyway, no big loss.

I used to work at applebees. don't eat there, ok? if you saw what those steaks looked like before they were cooked, you would vomit. you have been warned. if that is the quality of the STEAKS, don't even get started about the burger.

Here in Mpls, MN we just got a carry law.

Businesses can post "NO GUNS" on their business.
Well, the MALL OF AMERICA has signs all over their doors.

There are HUNDREDS of shops in there.
