he author of a book denying the existence of a liberal media in America declared that the right wing media "machine" is now so powerful that it acts as "a steamroller" of liberal ideals.

Eric Alterman - author of What Liberal Media? - appeared at a workshop called "Reversing the Right's Hold on the Media" on the final day of the three-day "Take Back America" conference sponsored by the Campaign for America's Future, which states as its goal pushing the Democratic party to the left.

This toad Eric Alterman bought a full-page ad in the Washington Times, crying about how conservatives have 'taken over' the media. We at Accuracy In Media are planning an answer to that whopper.

What he's actually complaining about is how the Left still doesn't have a monopoly on the press, and how terrible it is that forums like the Free Republic are allowed to operate unfettered by Our Betters in the gummint.

"A clearly frustrated Alterman told the audience that liberals "don't lack for sound facts; we really just lack the capacity to get the facts out there."

He doesn't get it. I love it.

Staying with this belief it will only get better for Conservatives.

This is the Left's response to the exposure of their media control. Their strategy? The best defense is a good offense. They are attacking the Right in order to put us on the deffensive. We cannot let this succeed.

It is the Left that has lost its monopoly on the media. I wish Accuracy In Media good luck in their efforts to make sure that this truth is known.

Ahh, they're just running scared. I did notice the sharp dig at Freepers "They're not just masturbating in front of their computers" as if we're a bunch of drooling perverts.

When the left has nothing intelligent to add, they just attack. Business as usual.

I was needling a liberal friend the other day about FOX's dominance over CNN and the popularity of talk radio as of late, and his response was "yeah, 'hate' tv and 'hate' radio are big these days." Typical. When things aren't going liberals' way, they play the "hate" or "racism" cards.

It's always hateful when it challenges any plank of the liberal platform, any part of the liberal canon.

When they are attacking conservatives with their vicious, hateful, rantings, its "fighting", it's "standing up to the right wing", etc.

When the right does it, it's "hateful attacks".

Just the typical liberal rules of the game.

True.

They're scared. We own the world. We hold ever branch of government. We have the ability through talk radio and Fox News to get our message out, now.

Liberals are in a state of shock.

They have yet to come to grips with the fact they don't just get a free ride in the media any longer. It used to be, as Rush has long said, that they would put out some statement, some ridiculous spin, and no one in the liberal media would call them on it. In fact, the liberal media would just go and repeat their message for them, echoing it far and wide (truth be damned).

They don't have that stranglehold on the major media any longer. Fox News Channel has changed that. MSNBC is even sliding right.

You've got talk radio to counter anything they say. You've got the Internet, and sites like Free Republic, where any of their lies can be immediately exposed, and activism can get the message to the major conservative media.

So, in essence, yes, there is a "Conservative Steamroller", and its a counter to all the villainy and lies of the left for the last fifty years. They now will be challenged. They'll be taken to the mat. They'll be discredited. They'll be exposed.

And nothing they, or Al Franken, can do, will change that.

So Alterwoman better just learn to deal with the fact that we're here, we're a power, and we're never going away. We're not letting them get the free ride they've had for fifty years, any longer. They're going to be met and challenged every step of the way.

The left always hates a fair fight. And it's fun to watch them flipping out over the small successes conservatives have had in the media. If we scare them now, just wait...

What a shame that they don't have a voice...(translation: they can't seem to silence the dissenting voice).

Please ask Mr. Alterman what we can do to be the "steam-roller" of Progressives, so we can get busy.

Nah, it's beyond their control anymore. There are so many alternative media sources that they just can't build the hype like they used to.

The liberals are fighting a losing battle, with tactics that are out of date.

Wait until Ann Coulter's new book hits in a couple of weeks...you think they're panties are in a bunch now...wait until one of ours is on T.V. literally calling them out and out traitors...

It is very reassuring to see how truly scared of us they really are.

Never underestimate just how badly something like Free Republic scares them...if they feel the need to constantly bring it up, it means they know about us, they monitor FR, and they know the power that this site has in organizing immediate responses to their shenanigans.

I like the fact that Alterwoman and Al Franken and others must sit out there surfing Free Republic and constantly hitting "Refresh", and then grinding and nashing their teeth as they read each new thread.

I love the smell of liberal fear...

If you'd posted the full text, I'd already know what Alterman was complaining about.

And they're lamenting the fact that there is something called the First Amendment, and that government can't stop us.

I took it as a comparison between us and them. They just use their computers for wanking, as oppossed to us. Maybe he didn't intend it as such, but that's how it actually came out.

The reason liberals do not have a successful radio broadcast is that it requires an audience who knows how to listen.
