Clinton's 'History' creating a hubbub
Crowds, record sales predicted for senator's White House memoir
06/09/2003
Associated Press
NEW YORK Wristbands, like those used for ticket-buyers at rock concerts, for the first 250 fans. A summer tour of major American cities.
Welcome to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's 2003 book tour.
The host of the tour's inaugural signing event for Mrs. Clinton's Living History, a Barnes & Noble in midtown Manhattan, is counting on heavy crowds Monday.
Store managers will distribute wristbands to the first 250 people seeking autographed copies of the senator's book, in order to make sure everyone in line has a copy.
Even before a single copy has been sold, the company's vice president of marketing, Bob Wietrack, predicted the memoir will be the chain's No. 1 nonfiction book of the year. Simon & Schuster, which agreed to pay Mrs. Clinton $8 million, has printed 1 million copies.
The bookstore visits are only part of the media blitz. Barbara Walters interviewed the senator for a Sunday segment on ABC, in which Mrs. Clinton said her marriage has "been tried and tested and we are at the point now that we're looking forward. ... I hope that we'll grow old together."
Time magazine is running excerpts from the book and an interview with Mrs. Clinton. In the interview, she is asked if she plans to run for president in 2008, and answers: "I have no intention of running for president."
A new ABC poll found that 53 percent of Americans don't want the former first lady to ever run for president. The same poll found Americans are still divided about her, with 44 percent expressing a favorable opinion and 48 percent viewing her unfavorably.

The hottest thing for the 'RATS since the Wellstone Memorial/Political Rally !
It'll probably flop the same !!

Huh ?? I heard it was fiction.

The same poll found Americans are still divided about her, with 44 percent expressing a favorable opinion and 48 percent viewing her unfavorably. The AP is unable to report the FACT that this is (or near) a record high unfavorably rating.

Pardon my correction of the title, but as you pointed out fiction has nothing to do with memoirs.
To: MeeknMing
...this one belongs in the 'funny pages'.

I'm convinced that the "journalists" at AP get so excited when they write articles about the Clintons that they have to type with one hand.

This will spark and then fizzle.
I predict a quick burst of 'excitement' followed by a droning boredom.
There is no way on God's green Earth this book will be a success.

I think it's wonderful that everyone is being reminded again of the degradation, the lies, the sleaze and the shame
Bill and Hillary! Clinton brought to the White House for eight long years.

Well ... according to Rush - the 250 people who showed up for the "book signing" could all have fit within the store (in Manhattan). But ... just to make a "staged" look, they issued wrist bands and made people stand outside in a line ... what a JOKE!!
The fact AP is reporting this as "creating a hubbub" means the liberals are just trying to stir up things and make people think a hubbub is happening.

According to Rush today, it's not sparking very much either.
With all the publicity people should be lining up to buy this piece of junk fiction in droves, but they're not.
Is the American public finally catching on??

I hope this hits the floor like a lead balloon in the same fashion that the much ballyhooed algor book did.

But ... just to make a "staged" look, they issued wrist bands and made people stand outside in a line ... what a JOKE!! Exactly. If you're promoting the book, you're damned well going to do whatever you can to make make it look like there's massive excitement and interest.
This is the equivalent of the owner of a half-empty nightclub not letting anybody in for a while so the line builds up and his establishment looks like "the place to be".
There are idiots out there who adore Hillary and will rush to buy the book, and it will sell quite a few copies. But the general public is going to yawn.
To: MeeknMing
Hey liberals, ponder this. While the non-candidate Hillary is getting all the publicity, have you seen anything in the media recently about Joe, John, Al, Howard, and Carol.
What? No? And if you don't recognize that group as your list of presidential contenders, well, the joke's on you and your Democrat buddies.
To: CyberAnt
Speaking of "hubbub", Steve Martin's "The Apple Pie Hubbub" (you know the one where he actually used verbs) will sell more than Hillary's book.

hahaha...The wrist bands were probably so that the body guards could check to see if anyone in line matched any of Hilly's 900 FBI files.
