GEPHARDT ABORTION STAND UNCLEAR
Formerly Pro-Life, Currently Pro-Choice, Two New Abortion Flip-Flops Are Pro-Pander ___________________________________________________________________________
1988: Gephardts problem is that he has a record of flip-flops on the issues. (Peter Beinart, No Vice, The New Republic, 12/23/02)
GEPHARDT MODIFIES POSITION ON PARTIAL-BIRTH BANGephardt Twice Voted To Override President Clintons Vetoes Of Partial-Birth Abortion Bills That Did Not Allow Exceptions To Preserve The Health Of The Mother. (CBS Face The Nation, 6/8/03)
GEPHARDT NO LONGER CLEAR ON LITMUS TEST
In 1986, Gephardt Said He Would Not Make Abortion A Litmus Test For Judicial Appointments. My conviction is that abortion should not be used as birth control, but as President, I would not make abortion a litmus test for my judicial appointments. (Doug Bandow, Judicial Litmus Tests, Copley News Service, 6/18/02)
And In June 2003, Gephardt Again Said He Didnt Have Litmus Test For Nominees. A womans right to choose has never been in more peril than it is today. We must protect this vital right.
While I do not have any specific litmus test for judicial nominees, I do expect any qualified jurist to protect our constitutional rights, including the right to privacy. (CBS Face The Nation, 6/8/03)

Whatever Gore had in the 2000 race with his reinventing himself over and over again is catching! This time Gephardt has caught it!

I do not believe that American voters have ever elected a President with no visible eyebrows, and I don't think we're about to start now.

Over the years, Gephardt has flip-flopped on the abortion issue. First he was pro-life, then he flipped to pro-choice. Gephardt's your liberal, without principles and questionable integrity.

Couldn't agree with you! They seem to have absolutely no core values! Will do anything for a vote!

"I don't have to tell you how important this 30-year struggle has been for the rights of women, and I don't have to tell you how important this fight for the right to choose will be in the months and the years ahead, including the fight to pass the language of Roe v. Wade into the law of this great country."
From his speech to NARAL.

While I do not have any specific litmus test for judicial nominees, I do expect any qualified jurist to protect our constitutional rights, including the right to privacy. Li'l Dick Gephardt Yes, that's about as ambiguous as his handlers could make him. I wonder, does Dicky equate the hiring of a serial killer to off unborn with the 'constitutional right to privacy'? Can we extend that right to perhaps 'aging and ornery granddad? What about crying crib-bound babies who demand life support that inconveniences our too busy teen, or requires a substantial amount of hard-earned wage to keep alive and well? Yeah, I'd say Dick has achieved the 'on the fence' position he sought. How will it evolve as the primaries occur and the political atmosphere of varying states arises to question his abortion defense position?

Bump.

He sold out on abortion to become house majority leader in 1988. He obviously doesn't care about the unborn.

You know I had a friend come up to me the other day and he said tell them about your father and how he fought for a woman's right to choose so I stand before you today to relate how my father as he carried the milk up six flights at three in the morning would come home so tired but not too tired to remind us that he was able to keep a roof over our heads because my mother was out picking up cans and the union was fighting for a living wage and of course a woman's right to choose.
And he added keep my tax cut and invest it in more government programs then I'll really make money so I can afford lots and lots of abortions.
Little Dick Gephardt--he should have been aborted--but that doesn't make it right.

As for lying on the abortion issue, no one beats Holy Joe. Here is Joe LIEberman, a staunch pro-abortion advocate (who voted six times for partial birth abortion), calling on religious leaders with a pro-life pledge.

According to a segment on GMA yesterday, Dickie's recently-out-of-the-closet lesbian daughter will be playing an active role in his campaign. She, too, appears to lack eyebrows.
