NICOSIA [MENL] -- Iran is said to have recruited hundreds of Arabs for a government crackdown on dissent.

Iranian opposition sources said the Islamic regime in Teheran has hired and equipped a range of Arab nationals to serve as riot police and break up student demonstrations around the country. The sources said the Arabs work for police and paramilitary special units and were identified as the most brutal elements in the crackdown against the growing reformist movement.

The Arabs are said to come from several areas and were hired amid dissatisfaction with the failure of Iranian officers to quell unrest. Some of the expatriates were identified as Shi'ites from Iraq. Others were said to have been Palestinians. Afghan nationals were also cited.

The sources said the Arabs were used in large numbers in anti-government protests at Teheran University in mid-July. They said the Arab security officers severely beat demonstrators and arrested hundreds of students

That is perhaps why they are arrested by the Iranian police: No mercy to the Arabs.

Just for clarification purposes Iranians have a history of mistrust and war against the Arabs.

Hiring of Arab foreigners to attack local Persians and/or Azaris is the ultimate act of treason.

The current regime has a wide range of Arabic representatives in spite of the fact that only 2 percent of Iranians are Arabs.

Let's call these Arabs what they really are -- mercenaries.

The mullahs in Iran are on the ropes if they have to hire the ancient enemies of their people as riot police.

If this is true, the Mullahs are doomed. I think I will make some popcorn and stay up tonight.

Iranian revolution, part 2, may be in progress.

It is time to start "attaching" these hired killer/thugs to trees with something besides ropes.

Find them and kill them should be the response to these killer/thugs.

It is obvious that the Islamofacists/kazis in the Middle East don't want a regime change in Iran. When the regime change comes to Iran, two of the evil regimes of the Axis of Evil are no longer a problem to innocent people.

Told you so.....this will be their downfall. Mercenaries have never been able to suppress a local insurrection of this size and scope.

They will only serve to fuel the already growing fire. Imagine UN troops trying to stifle an American protest and then figure the resulting carnage when the hunting rifles come out.

There is no way they can hire enough thugs to outnumber the people. When the average Iranian gets wind of this, perhaps it will give them the courage to get out on the streets to help the students take these terrorists out.

The Persians are a completely different people motivated by different things. Their pride in their own heritage will be stung by this.
