In 2000, Giordano was a Republican candidate to the U.S. Senate, challenging Joseph Lieberman.

In 2000, Giordano was a Republican candidate Gee too bad for him. As a Democrat with this added "resume enhancement", he could have made a run for POTUS.

During the trial, Giordano took the stand and admitted to paying Jones for fellatio, but denied touching the girls. Instead, he claimed he asked Jones to bring them along, as it aroused him to see the girls nearby when he received oral sex.Did he really think this would make the jury see him as less of a pervert?
Bowman called Nevas decision one of the most severe sentences ever imposed for these charges.
It ought to be the standard sentence.

"thanks for not making Giordano a senator" ping...

Newsday has a webpage covering this case comprehensively. The phone transcripts and testimony is utterly chilling. This man is very, very disturbed.

I read some of the Newsday coverage. The man is getting off easy with 37 years. Imagine being his family and listening to his phone tapes.

I read it too. Disgusting. The man is at his own son's T-ball game, badgering a prostitute over whether the 8-year-old or the 10-year-old is coming to their "date" after the game. He wants the younger girl.
Then it comes out that it's the younger girl's ninth birthday, and Giordano thinks that's just great.
37 years is a perfect sentence. It means two generations of Connecticut kids will grow to adulthood without having to service Phil Giordano.

Scumbag!
37 years is nowhere near enough for this perp. I hope they move him into the general prison population soon.

Giordano was a Republican candidate to the U.S. Senate...What would have happened if he were appointed as a judge, instead? Ugh...
To: tdadams
Any idea what happened to the aunt? I think she should have gotten a similar sentence...

This animal needs to be shot in the head.
To: tdadams
"He met alone with a member of organized crime, wearing a wire, at risk to his life," Bowman said.He even turned on his buds to save his own worthless hide.

This is the highest sentence I've ever heard of for molesting children, and he's still facing state charges. So I'm pretty happy.
Betting he won't make it to 70, anyway.
To: Tamsey
The aunt, if you can believe it, is suing the city for failing to protect the children.
I know, I know, but since Giordano was the mayor, she may have a case...

This animal needs to be shot in the head. I almost agree, with a slight modification:
"This animal needs to be shot in the head shins, hands, forearms, shoulders, hip, groin, then the head."

The children suffer recurrent nightmares and an inability to trust, Nevas said. "You destroyed these girls emotionally and psychologically and took their innocence to satisfy your sexual desires,"The harm this does to a kid is unbelieveable. It goes on and on and on... I think the perps deserve the death penalty or at least castration.

Unbelievable... utterly unbelievable. While it might help the children and the city for officials to maybe set up a scholarship fund or something, that repulsive woman should be imprisoned.
Thanks very much for answering my question.
